I saw a few fine examples of HBSS and they were pretty good size, but all I saw that were a good size, were in what I call a small pot....3 or 5 gal pots. They WILL grow larger in an EarthBox. Meph's Genitic Seed Guide says it's a good outdoor strain. I plan on taking clones and selfing and making seeds from the cuttings for my neighbor's outdoor grow in spring and for me to grow later. I haven't seen any of the others that I'm growing that is as big as HBSS. It should be easier on a big girl to recover from taking a couple of cuttings also.I got what you meant by SOLUTION - I'd mistyped and phrased it as if I thought you meant soil pH but I got that you were talking about nute solution pH. Appreciate the clarification regardless. 6.4 target it is. Dunks and NEEM ordered - hopefully I can still interrupt the larvae at this point. Still need to dig into IPM past the glue traps and NEEM. I REALLY appreciate your "rambling" and can't wait to follow along on your next grow. I saw some HBSS in stock at a vendor last night actually and was thinking about adding that to the already extensive queue. What was your thinking behind choosing the HBSS for the earthboxes and PK/SS for the fabric?
Thanks @pop22! The soil is Roots Original, which seems to have plenty of nutes for early growth so far. Going to give them a bit more time and then turn on the MC and autopots. Just to make sure I read it right, your method is to stay at 500-550/6.4 for the life of the grow, with MC in every feeding (as opposed to only water alternating with MC)? That's about as ideally KISS as I can imagine, if so!
To be honest, two HBSS will probably fill the tent if things go well, but I wanted to try Kong because of her lineage and a friend of mine says her husband grew Sour Stomper and loved the grow and taste.
I think there is some logic in there, but I dunno. It could be because I'm high as hell. I just made my first little experiment in the world of edibles.
