They can lose effectiveness if it was a smelly grow. How high is the extractor fan turned up? Can u smell if coming out the exhaust hose?
The extractor is on full power 24 hours a day, I don't have a timer or speed controller on it, I did check the exhaust and i couldn't really smell it, the issue is it would build up over a period of time but once I get back from work it stinks outside my front door and I live in the middle flat of a converted Victorian house so stank out the communal stairs and hallway! No one said anything and I bought a tub of ona gel and had the exhaust blowing into that but it's not something I want to have to do again! I think I might just buy the 6inch to be on the safe side!

Oversizing on an extraction system always gives you an improvement. I think the best thing for you would be to get a 6 inch system with the quality filter and the fan controller. All filters have a maximum amount of cubic feet they can move over their lifetime and if you have humidity and you're moving your maximum Air at all times you go through your filters a lot faster. Then you run into the difference between a quality filter and something you find on eBay.

I used to run a 6in extraction system that was pretty close to its maximum and I would go through those can filters in about 6 months. I went up to a 10 inch system and I use a much better filter that probably isn't available in the UK and I haven't replaced the filter in 3 years. But my fan rarely runs above idle speed.

you should always run an extractor on a speed router... If your running at max and still having odor, you may want to consider going up a size... Most people buy 4inch extraction, with plans they only will do one 2 plants at a time.. then 1 or 2, turns into 3 or 4 or even more...A 4inch can't keep up like that... I get cheap 6inch ones off ebay. I can run 6 plants at a time, no odor issues...If ya have the extra loot I suppose ya can buy name brand 6inch scrubbers, but really you'll get maybe a grow or two more more for something that you could of gotten another 6inch filter for..I get 6in on ebay around 40 delivered..It not makes since to me to pay over 80-100+ for a name brand scrubber that will not last much longer...Plus price out pre-filter changes, since them will be needed in-between grows...stick with what ya can afford, but important to run a speed router, you will not be able run a 6in on max,nor would ya want too..

Did you try pumping into sewer? A rodding eye works well as a point of entry for air. Or the vent where an old fireplace is covered up then goes up abandoned chimney.

Made my selection. Going to run a SODK as my entrant in this competition. My fall back in case of disaster, Chem City Blues. Will be dialing in some new COB lights:help:, so may prove interesting.:pass:
Good choice bud. Lots of cob growers here, let us know if you have questions. Good luck man.
