Grow Mediums Mega Crop in reservoir smell?

And watch for precipitation too that apparently comes along sometimes with the microbial growth. It sometimes seemed that the added kelp (or something similar brown color) would precipitate out.
Agree. The "brown stuff" goes into the valve and it can gather where the first silicon plug makes contact with the valve. Clean this away and it works. The brown stuff prevents the valve from 100% closing.

I haven't seen much precipitation with MC 2.0. V1 one would do that.

Maybe I have less problem because I keep my room air conditioned. I keep it 68-70F in the room so that the tents stay about 75F/ I also took a small box, painted it black inside amd cut a couple 1" holes in it's side. I set this over the vent hole in the cover. Keeps the light out without affecting airflow and its in the path of an oscillating fan as I keep the air between the tents moving constantly also

I saw it today when I was in the tent. All I have is MC2

ha! i made something similar, except out of gorilla tape.

Oops, forgot to add - another issue with stuff growing in the reservoir is that the gunk could in theory at least foul the autopot valve so the float valve controlling nute intake does not seal completely. Keep an eye on water levels in your trays so you have a sense of how high the liquid in them gets. You will notice that the water level at maximum just barely covers the hose input fitting on the valve. If you detect it getting higher over time, or if it ever gets high enough to spill out of the hose groove, clean the valve immediately. If the float valve controlling the nute input fails to seal, the reservoir will empty into your grow space. Be a bit of a mess if it made it to a wall to wall carpet. :pighug:

you should 100% go and buy a lottery ticket today because i went to my tent to check on my valves like you said, and even though they werent plugged up -- the trays were almost dry and it was because i had put Pot Socks on two days ago but i guess they werent put on properly and they were blocking the tray a little. phew! ill keep your suggestion at the front of my mind and be sure to check the valves regularly.

Not sure how the pot socks could do that. If the valve portion of the autopot tray is dry, either the valve is not opening properly, or the valve or the line is plugged. If the tray starts off empty and does not slowly but immediately fill with liquid when you turn on the reservoir, you have a blockage or a fouled float valve. If there is liquid in it already, it should not fill again until virtually empty. One way to check function is to suck the liquid out of the tray to see if the valve re-fills it. I use a turkey baster for this as well as for early application of top watering. If the "T" to the last autopot on the reservoir has a piece of the small tubing on it, the tubing can be folded or plugged to prevent leaking during regular operation, but removing the plug will check if there is any plugging in the main line. If the reservoir is turned on, and nothing comes out when the fold or plug is removed, you have a blockage in the main line before the branches to each autopot. You can also backflush the line from that end if that would be useful. Keep in mind though that backflushing through your tank filter may not work well if the blockage is in the line rather than the filter itself. If all you accomplish is pushing the blockage back into the filter, it will just happen again in short order.

Give me a shout if you have any problems. :pighug:

My temps are 80 - 86 F.
