so the new pro series with cree chips is 700w and 1200$$ which uses mid level cree XPE chips
i can build a 550w Cree led for 700$$ which would outperform the mars pro series as it uses the new cree cxb 3590 and also top efficiency meanwell drivers
this isnt a mars hydro bashing post
just a question
if i can build a led with new chips and cheaper why cant mars hydro build a led with new leds/cobs with all there buying power?
if the led would cost me 700$ to build i bet with mars hydro bulk buying u could make it for 500$
why not go all out and build a great led?
The chips we use on our Cree lights are XPE second generation, much better than the first generation.
I admit that the Cree chips are expensive, we imported it from US, but we order big quantity, so the price cannot be very high than the one you purchase only several.
Like I mentioned above, the design is worthi more money, and to be honest, the lights have target customers as well. Not everyone can afford the Mars Pro, so they will choose Mars II series,
Not everyone can afford the Mars Pro then they wil choose our Reflector or even the old series.
Still may also get very good result from our old series as well, it is not always about the chips, the price difference can also lies in other components as well, the Power supply and fan and heat sink are all upgrated on our Mars Pro series, also we add remote controller, all these lead to higher prices. :smoking:
The Cree is more expensive than Epistar chips, though they might not be the best chips in Cree lights, (Cree has very good white lights, but they are mostly for Commercial use) but we choose the most suitable chips considering the spectrum, price, etc. and still they will be customers buy them just because of CREE,
