I've got 4 auto candy cane seedlings and just curious when I can put them under my mars hydro ts 1000? Should I use the dimmer or place them under high power? Thanks

How old are your seedlings? What have they been under until now? I would take the manufacturer’s recommendations into account and likely transition the seedlings into the intensity of the light or you chance burning them. So, start them under a dimmed light or have a fair distance between the light and the seedlings. From what I hear, that is a great light for the price.
I’ve got some CropKings CandyCane beans as well. Do you have a grow journal started for them? If so, tag me in as I’d like to see how they turn out for you.

Like beerhunter mentioned, manufacturer instructions help, how powerful is the light. watts from wall? Usually if your lights pretty strong dim it down to 50% and have it 24 Inches away and adjust from there

That's the problem with the ts1000. They give you the bare minimum instructions. It is a dimmable light but instructions says nothing about power adjustments for seedlings. It just reads 24 inch seedlings. Seedlings just sprouted yesterday, so as of now they are under florescent seedling bulbs by ferry morris (not sure about the name). I will be starting a journal soon.

I would advise the same as Jeremyb. Dim the light to 50% at 24” and watch your seedlings carefully. There is a lot of light there so you need to experiment with it a bit. Once you have it figured out write it down for the next time you run seedlings under it.

I don't think you need to dim the TS1000. Just start at 24" and you should be fine. It's 150w from the wall and hasn't burnt any of my plants thus far

Just started running a ts1000 bout 6 weeks ago alongside 2 autocobs but my plants are 3-4 weeks old before they are placed under this array of lighting. Usually, I have 4-6 plants at various stages of bloom so from time to time, one or more will be 14-16 inches from the ts1000.
Any plant I add starts out at bout 20 inches with no issues.
I replaced 2 600w blurples (bout 110w at wall) with the 150w ts1000 and it appears the ladies like the dress up.

Well ladies and Germs...
We cannot argue with science..

Depending on your age, you may remember a singer called Thomas Dolby (He was blinded by science).
Here is what I'm getting from my toned down TS1000's.
As you can see, my tent is a 2x4, with an open door, and its still about 77 degrees (23 c).
The two lights were set to 100 watts each with the use of the watt meter (photo attached).
To confirm PAR, I also used my PAR meter to make sure I was still around the 250 to 400 mark.
The purpose was to lower the tent temperature, but maintain 350 PAR.
Thats why you want a PAR meter, failing that use a watt meter....which tells you only that you lowered the power.
But by how much at the leaves...As George Carlin would say " It's a mistery"...

If you'd like more specs ( in true life ), let me know...
I grow for fun, but am allowed to use a little science.

Knowledge is cheating, when you know how to cheat nature.
Happy holidays folks!
