Mars Hydro Growing Journal Contest 2021 - SP6500

I posted my opinion on my grow journal responding to @Marshydro post on it.
Mars Hydro Grow Journal (2x) TS600 + 1 TS1000 Bruce Banner + Critical Mass + Gelato - Check out the pics! | Page 8 | The Autoflower Network
You can see it on page 8.
The main point is because there wasn't a Start Date cutoff, you could keep extending this forever. For example @JSH1973 just started. Glad to have him join the fun but he's a month behind. So do we extend it to be three months from contest start, or three months from the last user to start a journal??? I think we need to draw a line in the sand somewhere. And I for one don't mind if the contest ends before we're all harvested, be hard not to TBH. All good tips to keep in mind @Marshydro for future contests, Start date and end date to make sure there are fixed parameters.

I LOVE this idea. I think instead of upping First Place but adding Second and Third place is a great idea. I know @WildBill is terrified of me catching up to him so this should calm his nerves :p hahahahaha
Hahahahaha! Ahhhhh silly boy! LOL! ;)
I've never been terrified of anything in my life. :cools:

I don't really care who wins this or any contest here on this forum. As long as it's fair to all involved. I'm good.

I'm conducting my current grow journal as I did my first grow journal. I document what I do for my reference to possibly come back at a later date to see what was done and the progress of the plant at that particular stage in life. Hopefully others will learn from what I document whether it is good or bad. Just as what has progressed in your journal, you’ve learned that VPD is very important factor to pay attention and from now on it will be in the forefront of your mind.

As long as Marshydro conducts this and any contest with in the rules and approval of the forum Gods. who am I to say different? LOL!

My recommendations for this and future contests has the forum members in mind and naturally what works best for Marshydro's marketing endeavors on this website.

I'll continue to support Mars Hydro on this site and anywhere I can as long as they continue outstanding customer service, support AFN members where they can and continue to provide innovative quality products at a cost effective price.

I'm happy enough with no extension to the date and just *compete* with what I have at the time

Alrighty then, @Marshydro it would seem that nobody is clamoring for an extension. So I guess we keep "roll'n" hahaha.
I've got an idea. How about for the next contest you set out firm specs on a grow, start, end, number of plants, and the winner is whomever has the highest yield at the end!! Now that would be fun and prove how effective @Marshydro lights are at producing.

@JSH1973 Welcome to join, really appreciate it, 6 enters now :smoking:

@CDN88 @WildBill @NorthernLights_420
Thanks for all your responses and the ideas. I must admit that this contest did have a lot of flaws in the rules. I will keep your suggestions in mind and make it better next time.
prize setting, firm the specs on a grow...

We respect your opinion, let's keep it. And looking forward to a better one in the next time.

Your welcome. Some people were steered away cuz it's more of a popularity contest at this point. Maybe next round let the site vote on the best plant grown for the winner? I think more people would get down also on the competition if you did that.
Too simple and still really a popularity contest of either the grower or the plant or both
Some sort of a weighted contest.
Views count plays a certain percentage
Production plays a certain percentage
Frostiness of the bud
Etcetera.....think of some other things:biggrin:

Just throwing a few things out there to see if any sticks!

I like where this is going. That would be fun. You'd really try to dial it in with a comp like that. I'd be in.
We would have to get heads up though, plenty of warning that the contest is starting so that enough people would be able to time a grow appropriately. Let those in who are at a certain stage of a grow, maybe half way be able to get in on it.

RIght, we should have informed one month in advance so that growers have enough time to prepare :growing:

Prize SP 6500 led grow light introducetion! Good luck everyone:d5:

SP 6500, 650w, optimal coverage is 3'x5'.
Top bin Samsung and Osram LEDs providing superior efficiency of up to 2.8 umol/j. An excellent choice to replace a 1000W HPS light for increased energy saving.
Passively cooled, all body thick aluminum heat sink design achieves optimal heat dissipation.
Removable Inventronics driver with an extended power cable.
IP 65 Waterproof rating. Never worry about splashes and sprays again.

We all know that the light penetration is important for high and dense plants in a single rack commerical grow room. SP 6500, 650w, with 2,356 pcs Samsung and Osram diodes on a single bar provides phenomenal light intensity and high penetration, providing light deep enough to reach the whole plant, reducing shadows on plants and making it ideal for greenhouse supplemental lighting. :smoking:

Sweeeeet. I'm drooling. Perfect for my 2x4 tent.

Hi folks, it seems that there are only 5 growers entered this contest yet, :pass:should we extend the time or change the prize to FC 6500 light to attract more grower to enter?
In 22 days into my Mars Epistar 2 320 grow but my thread title doesn’t qualify. Also super new to posting and navigating this AFN lol. Also pretty new to growing in general. Once I figure this out I’ll try to copy the journal over to a new one. Don’t worry though I’ll be easy to beat as I make so many mistakes every day :crying:. And with so many views on all the other contestants posts it’s going to be hard to catch up lol. Happy Sunday everyone!
