New Grower mars-hydro 94x3w relector

If the 94x3w is the green 2 panel one with the growth and bloom buttons on it then I'm pretty pleased with it after 2 weeks.
Scored one for cheap on a popular auction site and it's outshining my 250w cfl by a long way (even considering it's a 300w). No noticeable stretching that I got with the cfls (long due new bulbs to be fair to it).

In a grow space maybe 60w/60d/200h it's the only light, heat seems to be a non issue..you can rest your hand on top of the unit or hold it right near the leds with very little heat. There's a slight hum from 2 fans in it but they're so quiet my ruck fan/filter and regular fan drowns them out easily.

Only possible negative I'd mention is you can't just have the bloom turned on, the growth needs to be on for the fans to work..not sure if bloom alone makes enough heat to damage anything internal. Haven't taken the risk personally, I'm happy with growth and bloom on so far.

cool. I was curious about the noise and heat. thank's for the input

ive decided to go with the mars-hydro 144x3 reflector series, I already spent close to the price on my diy cfl set-up tryin to be cheap! it will fill up the entire room without interfering with my filter.

whats the difference between the mars II lights and the mars reflectors? Are the reflectors a better light? I've been looking at getting one for my next grow.

Hi gp :) From everything I've read, and I have 3 of the orig Mars II lights in my grow areas, the reflector series has 2 main "improvements"- 1) They have switches to set the light for just veg, or flower, which set the light spectrums accordingly. Great for small cabinets, as it maxes the best light for each phase, theoretically. Also, 2) from their online info, they state a 10-20% increase in power to the LEDs, so they are likely using more powerful-and likely better regulated-power supplies, which makes the LEDs more efficient.
I know of 2 fellow growers who use the reflector series, and they have no complaints. As for me, the original panels continue to serve me well- no complaints at all- and, I just picked up a pair of 450 watt Mars II units- for ~$275 for the pair- and they are an outstanding value for the money. I opened one up immediately, did voltage tests and an overall fit and finish check, and they are well made and their power supplies are up to the task.
Hope that helps! Tokes to you!

Good choice! I'm looking at a 900 watt Reflector style light. I'm afraid if I get it I'll vaporize my plants! :xlaugh:

I am running 2 300w old model mars-hydro and think that they are great. I have a reflector series on my wish list.

Their side coverage is better than 2.2ft I think too. I know they will burn your plants if they get 2 close lol. I keep mine at about 24-30 in whole grow.

The 96 x 3 Reflector is my main light in my larger tent. Love it...along with the 2 135W UFOs in there.

The primary difference with the Mars II's is that the LEDs are 5W units instead of 3W units. The Mars IIs
are full spectrum all the time (unless ordered with custom spectrum) and the Reflectors give you the choice
to run Veg only or Veg & Bloom.

that 144x3 does look pretty sweet...I was looking at that for my next grow as well.. when are ya going to get it? Im wondering how much heat one of these will put out in a similar sized tent.
