New Grower mars-hydro 94x3w relector

I have 2x 300w Reflector units, which after a slight delay, were put in my 4ft x 4ft tent, 10 days ago. I started my girls (2 Big Bang and 3 Cheese) under 400w CFLs because the lights arrived late, and so far they look really green and healthy, altough the BBs are a bit on the small side, but I'm sure they will pick up.

This is my first LED grow after 3 years under full spectrum sodium and it's a bit weird that my girls are in no hurry to start flowering, even though they are 5 weeks old now. There is a few little hairs showing but usually they can't wait to flower, under whatever light, but now they are very hesitant. I have just switched the flower buttons on and that might make all the difference. I'll keep you informed.

Overall these lights are really great. A bit noisier than expected, but I have read you can replace the fans easy, so that might be an option in future. No heat issues. I have to run a small fan heater to keep the temperature to around 25 degrees, but otherwise, no complaints. Everybody says you can daisy chain them. How do you go about that?

I have bought CalMag, because I have read deficiency can be a problem. So far I haven't seen any signs.

Very curious to see what the final yield is going to be and if it will match or even outdo the sodium lamps.

Hi Tina,
I have a couple of Reflector panels and my Auto girls are now 6 weeks old and don't want to be in flower as quick as they did under sodium light. Why is that? Also I had an instruction email from Mars Hydro, telling me to run a sodium light to get a good yield!!!! I have come away from sodium because of heat issues and electricity cost, and so many people have told me you can grow just as good under the Mars Hydros as under sodium lights, so is this not true? Bit confused. Could you also tell me if I could replace the fans in the units? I want quieter ones really. Do you know what the specifications are of the fans so I can buy replacements?

Thanks very much

Ill wager a couple guesses. If you are growing a stabilized strain that you have experience with, I would suggest trying to switch on the flower lights about a week before you expect them to start flowering. That might speed things up a bit. Right now they are probably so happy, they just dont want to quit growing!!!

If you search, you can probably find tutorials about replacing the fans, but Im guessing it would void your warranty. Ive seen people replace their fans with heat sensing fans that automatically adjust the speed based upon temperatures, this sounds cool, but might decrease your LED life if they get too hot before the fans speed up, sounds risky to me.

Thanks thetreeman. I do know this strain very well. It's all I have ever grown. Of course it's too late to switch the lights early on this growth but I will keep that in mind for the next lot. Do you think they will catch up and still have a decent yield or am I looking at a badly reduced yield because of their pre-programmed life cycle, or will they just go in flower and do their 6-7 weeks flowering?
Point taken on the warranty and LED lifespan. Thanks for the head-up.

I was having the same problem with 48x3w reflector and some Sage n Sour freebie bean I did couple months ago. 12/12 her for over a month, but no bud or even hairs on her(feminised seed). But I just blame it on genetics/strain.. Next one thou(MK-Ultra) flowered just fine. I think that plants are a lot like humans, they're not all created equal, some freaks here and there once in a while :) Just got a 400wVipar, but going to buy 94x3w for my Autopot easy2grow system, I think it will be match made in heaven :You are an Angel..:

I swapped the fan on the 48 for a Noctua silent one, took about 15minutes, and the noise is about half of what it was before. I'll have to order few more for the vipar(not that noisy, but still) and for the 94 aswell..

I hope I'm not ending up with a no flower scenario! That would seriously p.... me off. I am seeing a few hairs and one of the Cheese autos has started to flower. I wonder how long I should wait before I decide to start a batch of new seeds?

My partner runs the same set up as me and wants quieter fans. Good to hear you found it easy to do. Was your unit a 94 x 3 reflector? Would it have any effect on the way it cools the unit I wonder?

Good answer! Everyone wants to jump on the light as being the problem, when its the LAST thing that they should suspect. These companies have been making these lights long enough and their customers using them long enough to know they work and work well, or they would not still be in business. Even expert growers run into problems in their grows, just like everyone else does. I'd be looking for other problems if my plants weren't flowering, in fact, I recently went thru that! ( it was my water... )
