Hey all!! I wanted to give a recipe for a rub I was given from a massage therapist friend of mine. First off, you will need to get some supplies. I got all of mine from Amazon. What brought this thread to light, was Yoda posted about a rub he bought a few months ago. I bought some magnesium oil and rub from the same online vendor, and I got to thinking, after reading the ingredients, that I could make it for pennies on the dollar, and you can too!!! I even had Vistaprint make some cool labels for the wife and daughters to have fun with and give away as gifts. Here is both recipes for the oil and the rub...
what you will need:
magnesium flakes
distilled water
The Magnesium Oil can be used all by itself for muscle pain and tightness by pouring it in a spray bottle and spraying it on and letting it air dry(great for just out of the shower!!)
shea butter
coconut oil
vitamin E oil
Essential oils(if you like the fufu smells)
and some small canning glass jars
All this shipped to your door from Amazon for about $120.00 USD and it will make alot of Mag oil and rub!!!
making the Magnesium Oil-
1/2 cup distilled water(bring to a boil and turn off)
1/2 cup Magnesium Flakes
mix in the Magnesium Flakes into the boiled water until dissolved. Set aside.(EASY)
Magnesium Rub-
Melt 1/4 cup Coconut oil and 1/2 cup Shea butter and mix together in bowl.
Add 1/4 cup Magnesium Oil and whisk thoroughly!!! Then whisk some more. You can put a few drops(3) of your choice of essential oils for what ever smell you want to create. Dont overdo it on the essential oils, just a hint of fufu!!
Pour into small ball canning glass jars and put UNCOVERED in the fridge over night to set up and harden. The next day, screw the lid on tight and mark cap with what it is and essential oil used. I keep these in the fridge until I use them. Shea Butter and Coconut Oil start to melt at a bit over 70*. When I want to give the wife a back rub, I take a jar out about an hour before so it isnt cold on her skin. It works double duty for us guys!!! She gets the back rub(which can lead to more fun) and the guy gets the Magnesium for his hands(arthritis) and both of you get the benefits of Magnesium absorbed in the skin, which is the best way for the body to uptake it!!! Plus it lets your lady and you make an afternoon of doing something in the kitchen together. If you want your aches and pains to simply disappear, try these out!! It relaxes you so much, it even causes drowsiness!!!

Hi Briman,

You are dead on with the benefits of magnesium. Aunt Mossy has posted a lot of research on the benefits and how most of us are deficient. Grandma Roody here also sells a line of magnesium rubs that have been tested by members here. Check out the transdermal magnesium thread in is section, lots info and testing.

Take a look at the pH positive thread as well. It along with the magnesium can really help dissolve calcium deposits associated with arthritis. My bad shoulder has gotten better then it has been in years using the combination

Thanks for posting your recipe and keep rubbing!

Hi briman...Thanks for sharing your recipe.

The magnesium oil is amazing...and you are right, make it for pennies!...sounds like you may have a little business going there.

You may also want to look in our Apothecary Chest there are some other homemade products you can make.

Thanks Root66, It is a great product and it works!!! My mom owns her own beauty shop and my girls asked her if she would sell it to her clients. The girls will then take the proceeds and want to donate it to the local childrens cancer hospital. Made me and the wife cry like babies when they asked if that was ok. Both are in their 20's and i bought all this stuff for a fun project just to get us together and have some fun!! Life is good!! Thanks for the link for the Apothecary Chest thread!!! I will certainly check it out!!!

Would any type of magnesium flakes work? Or is there a certain type?

Also I read somewhere that you may have to dilute the
magnesium oil...do you have do dillute the receipe that you put up?

Thanks #1
I guess some health food stores would have this as well

Would the Magnesium powder work the same as flakes?
You can consume the powder by mixing it with water.
