Lighting Magics Garden of Lyfe

its under the bs 240 v.2 flowering i hoping to do the first review on the light seeing ill have my first plant done under it in about 2 weeks and its about 9inchs away from the top cola! and i dont see any burns im thinking i could possible go 1-3 inches closer before i start seeing stress! i just wanted to be safe so i had not decided to drop it lower. but i would not mind trying to experiment and see how close i can get it!

just adjusted my light it is about 5.5-6 inchecs from my main cola right now ill leave it there for a day or two see if i see any heat stress if not ill keep it there or lower it until i do start to see signs of stress

If you go any closer your gonna lose par and penetration on your side branches! I'd leave it where it is. If you got 120 degree chips the angle should be ok right there!
I have had my blackstar 240 uv like 7 to 8 inches from the top cola but it was on solid cola and could concentrate all of the light on a small area!

You won't get any heat stress from that light. I don't think 240 w is enough to stress it but your lower branches will loose light.

great tips bro! but the BS V2 uses cone tech so i dont know how that works in place of PMMA lens?:dunno:

"One of the most noticeable differences of the new series of Blackstar LED's is the patented reflector system which replaces the optics used in encapsulation. One of the biggest requests from customers had been to design a light that had greater penetration power and better coverage area. Cree LED engineers determined that the most efficient way to get beam angles greater than 60deg was to use reflectors rather than traditional PMMA lenses. Not only were they more efficient (less loss of light) but they could also increase coverage in a way that lenses could not.

"The Blackstar V2.0 uses aluminized reflectors which are each unique to every LED on the board. Reflectors are each custom designed and tailored to increase coverage area and keep power on the canopy. You will also notice that the reflectors on the perimeter pitch outward more than the inner ones. What this creates is a hybrid lens capable of both deep canopy penetration as well as others which now cover an unparalleled coverage area. The coverage area on the best selling model the 240UV is now 25% more than it's predecessor. The best part is that this new 240 Blackstar V2.0 is also more powerful while covering all that extra space. Average PAR readings from the new light are 15% higher than the comparable original."
