New Grower Lowryder #2 Indoor Stealthy Sun Grow

Thanks! Not really sure why I didn't buy fem seeds. It's hard to find Paypal vendors & I didn't have a ton of cash at the time, but I think I've got it all figured out now. Next time for sure. :greencheck:

Edit: I just yanked him out. Was definitely a male. Didn't want him blowing his load all over my room, lol. I don't know enough about breeding just yet to make seeds, but one day that will definitely be on the agenda! Sounds cheaper than buying from seed banks. Until then I'll try out the tips for increasing female ratios & keep my fingers/toes/eyes crossed this doesn't happen again. :goauto:

Are you in the states? If so you should check. Growerschoiceseeds. That's were I got my fem autos. I also have a grow journal too should checked em out. Shipping was super fast took 3 days and they accept card since they're in the states

GOAL: Captain's log. :wiz: My situation requires stealth, and I'm not looking for maximum yields or anything. I just want 1 or 2 small plants to make it to harvest and I'll be ecstatic. (I have 3 Lowryder seeds & 4 Cherry Wine hemp seeds that I might try to plant outdoors later). I'm a very part-time smoker who usually smokes high-quality hemp & CBD strains, so this is all a hobby for me. If I make it to harvest this will be my first time. (Virgin!) I've had to abort several grow attempts in the past for stealth reasons but have a better setup this time so hopefully it will work out!

Container: 18oz. Hefty cup (similar to red Solo cup)
Soil: Black Gold organic
Light Source: South-facing window + 20 watt LED lamps (clamp on gooseneck RundA brand)
Fertilizer: None until Week 6 or 7; only if necessary
Location: Zone 7a

WEEK 1

GERMINATION: I set out a cup of hot tap water for 24 hours to let the chlorine & other chemicals evaporate before dunking my Lowryder [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] seed in. While the seed didn't sink at first, it eventually did with a few pokes once the water warmed up. I then placed it in the dark closet overnight.

Upon waking, I poured the cup of water onto some folded paper towels on a plastic frisbee & drained off the excess. This is the method I used for the remainder of germination (24 hours or so).

PLANTING: I watered my soil first & poked a half-inch hole in the middle of the cup. I carefully picked up the seed with my (clean) fingers & placed it, root down, in the hole. I covered the seed with a gentle sprinkling of dry soil without packing it down but being sure to cover it thoroughly so the soil wouldn't wash away with watering. I kept the medium damp the whole time before the sprout was visible.

It took around 48 hours for my Lowryder sprout to become visible. I planted it on a Saturday night & it showed itself on Tuesday morning. By Tuesday night, it was standing tall with two cotyledons & a tiny set of leaves! At this point, the sprout was looking a bit over-watered & I was afraid of the dreaded "damping off," which happened to my poppy seedlings earlier in the year. So I made a pact not to water as often in vegetative phase. New watering sched: Once a week from the top & once a week from the bottom in the tray, with light misting of the plant itself in between. Added more drainage holes with a small kitchen knife to help prevent sogginess.

Tonight I lined the inside of a popcorn tin with aluminum foil to set my cup in to help maximize the weak LED lights. Still not sure how that's going to work...might get too hot so I'll have to check the temperature often. The seedling is getting a good 7 hours of direct sunlight in the windowsill, so the LEDs are just for evening use. I'm also setting the little guy in front of a strong floor fan for an hour or so each night to strengthen the stem.

Updates weekly! :greenthumb:
LR#2 was my first grow also. DWC 1 gallon res. Wound up going ~100 days and yielding ~500 grams wet (~120 dry). Close to 4 feet tall. Had to have a carbon filter eventually, too.

Good luck with the grow, bro!

Yeah, @Shinramen I'm in the U.S. Thanks for the lead. I need all the help I can get. Looking over your grow journal now! :greenthumb:

I'm also looking into some Moby Dick x Blue Mazar auto fems...$25 for 15 seeds from Canada. That's a helluva lot closer than these LR#2's from Holland. Just stoked there are more seed options online than there were back in the day when I was a teen grower. Sucks that Paypal is my only option tho...

As for the other two Lowryders I've got left, I placed the seeds in a bag with some unripe bananas in the hopes of influencing their sex with ethylene gas. Lol. Probably a long shot but I read about it on Jorge Cervantes site & some other semi-reputable sources so it can't hurt. Just a bunch of green bananas chilling in a drawer. :haha:

You will love the Moby Dick IAM from Canada. May I suggest the GTA seedbank. I have not grown the Moby Dick with a Blue mazar cross who has that strain? I am growing right now moby dick from Dina fem. I grew out a low Ryder but not number 2. May I suggest you take a look at Mephisto there strains are over the top. Welcome aboard. Here is a pic of a moby dick with weeks left to go.

Wow, that's a gorgeous plant! Unfortunately the Moby Dick x Blue Mazar Auto was removed from eBay so I had to settle for another strain/vendor. I'm limited by payment method so I don't have as many options as I'd like, as very few seed banks take Paypal.

Both remaining Lowryder seeds were bunk. They totally failed to sprout taproots or come out of the soil when planted & tended to closely, so I assume putting them in a bag with the ripening bananas killed them. (I tried to be careful & give them adequate air and such, but maybe something in the sticky banana air killed them? They were coated with green dye & it sort of "melted" after being set next to the nanners...this might've had something to do with it). Or maybe these two just weren't viable to begin with. But I doubt it as they looked perfectly healthy like the first one. Either way, this journal is coming to a close because I'm all out of Lowryders.

On the plus side, I acquired 7 FEMINIZED Sour Diesel Auto seeds so I'm bound to have luck with at least one of those. I hate to start a second newbie journal but I really want to see a grow through to completion on here. I like the accountability of sharing my progress (or lack thereof) with more experienced growers, so hopefully it will be okay if I start a new one when the grow gets up & running. I've got a seed germ'ing now but will wait until it's further along to start documenting. Mods can close this thread or leave it open; I probably won't check it much after today.

Looks like a guy 2 me .

I just popped blue mazar I got from Ebay, the guy gave me like 20 extras so far so good

Wow, hope you'll post a smoke report when it's done @Blalack55? I've scoured the internet & nobody has shared a harvest/smoke report of this strain yet. There's some abandoned threads on RollItUp but that's it. Looks like it's a hardy plant in veg at least. :greenthumb:

Lol I know I did too, but I would love to see someone that is experienced in growing so they can give these their full potential. This is my first grow so I know I might mess up but we'll see and thanks I definitely will give a smoke report!
