I missed this thread earlier this is great working example of what I had in mind. Even if the ballast is only 80% that is still a real 200 watts at the led very respectable. I think I might copy your homework. To bad I'm out of rep atm

Led bulbs work awesome in smaller grows. I'm very pleased with mine. I'm sure my light is as good or better than most commercial light running similar wattage. If you try them post some pics

I have a buddy that has 2 commercial lights that died on him. If I have a problem with this I can go to walmart and get a replacement bulb in less than 15 minutes or change my spectrum for veg or flower. I can also arrange the bulbs to fit my grow space. I will be happy to post pics here when I get done. The money I save can go toward a really good carbon filter for smelly Mephistos. I give out rep based on what info helps me the most personally and this thread does. You deserve that, thanks for the good info.

I'm loving my light for under 100 bucks I have a 250 actual watt led light. The white light these bulbs put out is way better then older burple led lights. It is more like the light cobs put out. And like u said I can easily change spectrum and replace bad bulbs cheap. I was going to invest in some cob lights but for now my off the shelf led bulb light is rocking and it is probably efficient enough. I'm thinking 250watts for my grow space might be over kill I'm getting like 75 watts per square foot and I think that might be to much. I was looking into building a light with the dimable bulbs so I could tone it down some. They are about twice the price of non dimable bulbs so for now I just try to keep it 18 to 24 inches above my canopy. Good luck building your light looking forward to seeing some pics. I will be harvesting real soon . I will post some bud pics and total weight. I'm hoping to get at least .75 to 1 gram a watt . I'm not sure I will do that good because about 3 weeks ago I burned the shits out of my girls with some beastie bloomz. That shit is super strong . I'm going to be starting a grow journal very soon so check it out to see how well off the shelf led bulbs can grow. I'm trying to tell everyone about them they are a great option for smallish low budget grows. So why spend money on cheap commercial led light that will just burn out and cause headaches. I just want people to give them a shot I know most will be really happy.

The rep was well deserved. You already have a dimable light just unscrew some bulbs. Even BigSm0 said this type of light was a viable option. I respect BigSm0 a lot for giving people advice that helps them even if it cost him a sell. I would like to build a light with cobs but right now this fits my budget. I'm going to try this on my first indoor grow in a 4' by 2' cab, about 31 watts a square foot. I look forward to seeing you journal and how the light worked for you. Give us some good bud porn.
