@Marshydro I understand what your saying. The past couple days i have been playing around with DLI. And after reading lots on AFN and ILGM. I got a really good understaing now. Long story short, yes you can run lights closer to the top of canopy with less power and get same results. Which in turn will be less power used and reduced temperatures if your borderline of being too hot. In my tent I was running 42 DLI, (initial readings when I started this) my plants are short. Wanting a little more height (SP3000 set at 26" at 100% dimmer) to my plants I could have either raised my light or decreased my dimmer. Decreased my dimmer to about 75%. Lowered tent Temps to 75°F. And now my DLI is 32. My plants should get a little more stretch now. I was really surprised at how even my readings was with the SP3000 in the 2x4. Awesome light so far. My closet grow I am in 2nd week of flower. I'm pushing these girls for max light. As long as I stay on top of optimal environment, water, and nutrients this should give me the best yield I can get. And from what I have read these plants max at around 60-65 DLI. Both TS1000'S set around 14" above canopy. First 3 pics is my readings from top of canopy in the 2x4 with the SP3000 after adjusting dimmer. Last 3 pics is canopy top of my 3 plants in my closet grow. Is definitely a void I need to fill above my plant that's in the middle. I could give her more light. It seems that growers all try to keep the tent temp around 78f, 26c. If we keep the canopy temp don't over 30c, the light won't burn the plants, why not slow down the light hanging height as much possible as we can? 6 inches, 8 inches?
