Living soil amendments

I have been using this dry amendment (roots organics OregonismXL) for my grows with success. I use it at planting then every 3-4 weeks to keep my bag soil happy.

Cheers for the suggestion mate but I'm using the livingsoilsuk products this run to see how it is.

How did you get on @Qbgrower with the livingsoiluk dry amendments? I just started using them myself but very early on. My main worry is how to water as i am used to letting the substrate dry out and then give it a good watering but i am using the auto dry amendments. Thinking of starting a thread just for Living Soils - Premium Organic Dry Amendments (livingsoilsfertiliser.com)

I'm about half way through my first grow with them. Seems to be going well although I've noticed a little bit of what I think is a cal/mag issue in the last few days. They are due a top feed tomorrow so I will add some silicium flash in to the mix and maybe up the bloom amendment. I have around 15l - 18l in my pots so was just adding three tablespoons instead of four but that may have been a mistake.

Here is my grow diary. Feel free to take a look around.

@Qbgrower Are you using a auto watering system there? Apologies if you have mentioned it already. The reason i ask is that i was possibly looking at using Living Soil with something like a Wilma for when i am away from the house. Only hand watering when i do the top dress.

Mate, ask away. More than happy to help anyone I can here. :pighug:

Yeah, I'm using the Autopot system. Would highly recommend it, takes the biggest problem with my grow out of the equation (ME)

Basics of my setup are 100x40cm garden trays with the autovalve cover. This allows you to use pretty any type of tray you want with an autopot. Autopot gets switched on around day 18 and then turned off a day or 2 before top dressing, then turned back on next day.

Don't have any experience with the Wilma system. Is it similar?

Wilma is very similar except its fixed sizes and it top down (dripper) rather than bottom fed. Haven't bought yet but am about to i think. Delighted with the Livingsoils Amendments so far - its the way forward.

Sorry for the late reply.

Had a bit of nightmare with my first two plants. Completely my fault. I didn't water them till run off and clearly just let weeks worth of amendments sit in the soil and cause a lock-out. Flushed both and they are doing much better.

Glad yours is going well. Do you have a diary here?

Cheers

Not good - we live and learn! I am just hand watering but feeling a little lost with the amendments as i am used to letting the substrate almost completely dry out then giving them a good water whereas with this you need to keep it nice and moist - feels wrong but plant looks happy enough.

I do not have a diary - might do one for the next grow.

Planning a Wilma XXL and using the dry amendments for all of them this time. Will hand water when feeding once a week. So much easier than messing around with liquid nutrients!
