Hi folks. Got a question to ask about living soil amendments.

I prepped my soil with dry amendments and watered in a few weeks ago. Instructions say that it's to be left for 2 weeks before transplanting in to the soil.

Due to unforseen circumstances I had to shut down my grow before I had a chance to transplant. Its been around 4 or 5 weeks since it was prepped. Will it be ok to use once I start up again in 2/3 weeks? Soils been kept moist and hasn't dried out.

Cheers

It will be fine. Perhaps even better as soil microbes like slow.

Thanks @Mañ'O'Green I thought that'd be the answer but better to be safe than sorry.

Hopefully the soil is full of life and the plants thrive.

I'd have to say that it depends on a few things.. But if it was a basic soil mix with just dry amendments as a Top dress, it should be fine..

If it was/is a living soil, then it would take more than a top dress or dry amendments to keep the microbial life alive. You'd need something that feeds the microbes like molasses or a compost tea.. If it was plain water for 3-4 weeks I can't say how "alive" the soil is now.. To be safe, watering with a good compost tea will restart the micro life .

Hi mate, so I'm new to all this dry amendments stuff. I was using biotabs before.

Here is the product I'm using now https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/livingsoilsuk

Thanks for the advice.

It will be fine as long as you didn't let it dry out completely...add some worm castings or quality compost just to help kick start your micro herd and your off to the races....The longer the cook the better availability of nutrients for the plant to uptake.
I mix and cook hundreds of gallons..400-500 gallons on hand at all times, some doesn't get used for 6 months to a year, worst case some nitrogen might off gas..no big deal.
Longer the cook the better, IMO.

Maybe throw some Mikos in, stir that stuff up, spray it with some compost tea and I'd mix again.

Thanks for the advice folks.

I spoke directly to the company and they said I should be fine to plant as is but I think I'm going to top dress with some worm castings.

They've also just released an auto specific version of their amendments. Going to try it out and do a side-by-side comparison.

Hope to be popping seeds in water next week and into final pots by start of April.

That will work too. Just make a compost tea and use the first time you are able to fully water your girls after they sprout.
