How on earth do i deal with this? even 40 watt CFL's increase the temperature to say, 100F, with direct fans on the opposite side of the box blowing fresh air on the plants, i doubt the temperature there will go below 95F on the plants

Theres just no way i can get it under 95F without adding ice...

So what can i do? i read 95F is the cuttoff for the plants growing at all, this worries me alot..

Will a plant survive at 100F with good ventilation, will it grow at all?

thankyou in advance

theyll survive... probably... but thats def the high end...

ever heard of an "evaporative cooler" ?

basically if you put a piece of thin (looses threaed for airfloe through it) cloth and wet it in front of your intake fan... that shoul help... then you just have to figure out how to righ that to auto-re-wet... :smokebuds:

so they can survive at 100F without too much stunting? if so im planting today... any more advice guys? 95F acceptable or just disgustingly wrong?

Similar to what JM says, you need to 'hydrate' the air. No evap cooler....have a bowl/tub of ice in front of the fans (I've done that in extrteme summer heat....less expensive than running refrig air). As ice melts fan air throws cooler vapes from ice bowl. You don't have a vent turbo allowing hot air to expell from room? You can still grow a moderate yield decreasing the hours the cfl's run....16 hrs vs. 20/24.

Pot plants can survive hot temperatures as long as their feet (roots are cooler) I sometimes face high grow room temperatures especially when it is 90 outside. I don't know how to cool me room when that happens. I just cool the water in the bubbly tank and try to keep it at 70 degrees or cooler if possible. I use water coils in a refrigerator on a small pump. I also take the inlet of my air pump and suck the air out of the fridge in the daytime and use the cool air from outside in the nighttime. I just use a simple garden hose switch to do that. Since I put in the new to me old refridgerator my plants are much happier.

Temperature near roots and below is 93-95 degrees, up the top where the top of the cola's are going to be is near 100F

Ill be watering every 2 days, how much stunting/problems am i going to have?

Gday mate - Aussie here too

Having the same issues as you and trying to get them sorted - summer hasnt even hot yet!!. My temps have been pretty much same as yrs - plants are growing but I think I am definetely missing out on height as a result. I have just switched from wardrobe to a grow tent hoping to get better ventilation and help with temps. My tent is 1m x 1m with a 400W HPS. computer type fan as intake - still gotta mount it properly, 6 inch exhaust fan - carbon filter and a 30cm fan in tent blowing at plant/light height. With those running my temps are about the same as yrs - bit cooler here at moment as weather not so hot and just started the 12hr shift for the day but realisitcally mate I dont think theres gonna be much choice other than to also run a portable evaporative cooler. I oohed and ahhed as budget is low and extra electricity etc but figured better to have things right to get the best outta the grows rather than grow badly. I picked up a decent one on ebay for about 80 bucks and it just arrived this morning - I havent hooked it up yet but am hoping its gonna be a big help in regulating temps. Will also be handy to keep my bedroom cooler. I'll most likely make up a bit of ducting so I can have the unit outside the tent and blow into the tent - though will have to experiment. I tend to be slow at such experiments but when I know how is going Ill let you know. Have also been speaking with another Aussie grower on here and is facing similar probs and I think is also going the evap cooler option. I'll still be trying/using some ice and/or a wet tea towell in front of intake fan so that only use evap cooler when have too but all in all glad Ive got it now before summer starts. Compared to the price of grass, 80 bucks on a cooler isnt too bad to help get good crops.

cheers mate and best of luck with it
