Britain Set For Heatwave As Temperatures Soar

Britain will bask in a heatwave this week as the country sizzles in temperatures that will rival holiday resorts in the Mediterranean.

Forecasters say rain and gale-force winds will give way to blazing sunshine, with temperatures set to hit 28C (82F) next weekend.

The balmy weather, which will kick in on Wednesday, is in contrast to the first half of the week, when much of the UK will see rain and wind, with temperatures below average.

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: "It is a real contrast in weather from the early part to the end of the week.

"Tomorrow and Tuesday will be cool and often wet and windy.

"But then the high pressure starts to build across the UK and it certainly becomes very warm and locally hot in the south.

"Wednesday is the transition day from the unsettled to the better weather with temperatures reaching around 20C (68F) in the south.

"Friday into the weekend will see a much bigger increase with strong sunshine.

"Certainly is it good weather for getting out and about.

"May so far has been cool and the temperatures below average, so it is quite a contrast - a big change in the coming week."

Forecasters are warning that heavy rain and thundery showers will hit on Tuesday.

After that things are predicted to improve dramatically, with temperatures expected to soar to 28C (82F) in the south on Friday and Saturday as warm air from the continent drifts in.

Seems like the outdoor grow season is here at last in the UK :cools:

No he's not mine I can't have pets where I live sadly. All my friends and family have pitts and theyr'e ALL the biggest babies. I can't wait to buy a home so I can have a pooch again! For now we have our secret fat cat Rahjah Ann Frank - who runs and hides when people knock. Deff a forever pet !
