You CAN strip them... It will just divert the auxins to a higher point on the plant. So basically making the buds higher up fatter. I try to strip off all the stuff om the bottom. Within reason. I don't go crazy but it does work.

I figured once it started to put on mass I would slice them off. Then again, if I trim them now it should send more to the top. The ones that have dried or shriveled up, I plucked off.
