@arty zan care to discuss c99 with blue
Hey Mowhawk I only know a little about C99, It is a legendary mostly sativa strain breed by Mr.Soul is the founder of the "The Brothers Grimm seed company" which was originally started in 1996.
The company stopped trading in a bout 2002 but has started trading again in 2016 after a 14 year absence from the scene.
In 1996 Mr Soul discovered some seeds in some Jack Herer which he bought from the "Sensi Smile" coffee shop in Amsterdam.
When theses seeds were grown out , one female plant seemed to be special and got called "Princess" She was short in stature and had a tropical smell with hints of rotting meat.
She was also devastatingly strong, back in the late 90's a lot of weed was smelling very skunky, Princess was different in that she smelled really fruity.
As with many sativa dominant strains she was trippy and psychoactive and smoking too much of here could make you feel paranoid, so the advice was to go easy when firing up a joint.
The father of Princess is unkonw and was some random pollen which somehow found it's way in to Sensi's flowering room, so that part of her genetic make will remain a mystery.
Mr soul wanted to make "Princess" available to the world in seed form and started a breeding program using a technique which he called cubing (3 x Back Crossing), (I have posted this technique in the forums but because it is done using cuttings it isn't a suitable method to use with autos).
The cubing process (3 x Back Crossing) cubing a clone is a way to create a unique seedline modeled after a currently existing female individual. The goal is to create seeds from which the females replicate the phenotype of the original female. Obviously the chosen female should be an outstanding specimen which Princess was!
Since Princess was a unique Jack Herer x Unkown Strain back crossing her with another strain was the only way of producing her in seed form.
Princess was crossed with a shiva skunk and the progressively backcrossed with each generation having a higher percentage of Princess in them.
Each resulting cross was given the prefix "P" which stood fro "Princess" and then a number denoting the percentage of "Princess" in it.
So the cubing process (3 x Back cross) made 3 different crosses each with a higher % of Princess - P50 , P75 & P88.
P88 was finally crossed back to Princess on last time to create P94 (94% Princess) which we all know today as Cinderella 99.
Cinderella 99 has two main phenotypes a Pineapple pheno and a grapefruit pheno, flower usually takes around 7 weeks and produces some fine frosty buds.
Many breeder have used C99's unique qualities in there crosses creating an almost cult like following for this amazing strain.
Female seeds have created an automatic version of C99, maybe some others have too?
Cinderella is now available for purchase again from the Brothers Grimm but only in photo form.
