I vaguely remember seeing those guys in NYC at a place called ABC No Rio in 90 or 91. Weren't too many Cookie Monster bands back then
I love some old school metal...I'm more of a thrash guy, but I've seen MANY a death metal show in NY...Kreator, Obituary. Napalm Death, Cannibal Corpse, Entombed...some Swedish melodic stuff, At the Gates, Soilwork, In Flames, plenty of newer groovy metalcore bands, Trivium, Between the Buried & Me, Mastodon, Lamb of God...I got to see Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher perform in my high school auditorium talent show as Lethargy.
IT WAS THE MOST EPIC MOMENT OF MY 14 YEAR OLD LIFE!!!
I had started playing guitar earlier that year, and these guys were all seniors. They absolutely stole the show and got a huge standing ovation from the entire place. Freaking parents and Grandpas and baby brothers and the like, I've never seen anything like that since. Bill is a good dude...I watched a Mastodon show at Water Street Music Hall here in Roc, and 20 minutes later, he's chilling with me and my friend Joe (RIP little man) getting ready to watch Randy & Friends tear the roof off the place as Lamb of God from Richmond mother fuckin Virginia.
Those are some good dudes who like being rednecks, drinkin beers, shootin guns, riding 2 stroke MX bikes, drag racing, and getting sick Mesa Boogie Mark IV guitar tone. I love the Boogies, they are the best.
Makes me
want to cry.
