I will do another final post on the issue here with a link to the finished blog. Anyone reasonably handy who can afford a controller can build an effective dryer for a small fraction of the price of a Cannatrol, especially if they are a scrounge like I am. Anyway, details later, and I would be happy to help out with design ideas if someone wants to build something that works like mine does.

I posted my rig a while back that I think works in a similar way, except it uses a bag instead of a box. I can't control temperature yet, but when RH gets above the set number, a little fan comes on to bring in drier outside air, and an exhaust valve opens to let out the air that's too humid. I've been using it for a year or 2 to slow down the drying and prevent over-drying. I can't wait to see your final specs.

Sudden huge bang, initially thought a semi-truck crashed nearby. Then my home shook for a minute, rattling cutlery and dishes.

It was a 5.1 earthquake about 80 km from me. They estimate it was 10km deep and there might be aftershocks. No damage but pictures and clock are all crooked.

Funny enough, the dogs didn't react at all.

I guess it's time to go through the emergency kit and replace things that are nearing their best before date....
