Afternoon
@WildBill ...did you ever farm peas....?...
In a container...modified fertilised soil..plus additives...super plants....lots of flower and peas....but...they aren't really fattening....
Just down to watering...?......
.....I don't want to over water and encourage mildew......
I grew lots and lots of different varieties of peas.
They are all of the same basic classification of "cow peas".
Pre Civil War, they were called cow peas because mainly they were grown for cattle feed. Slaves and poor sharecropper whites grew them for food. The most commonly known is the Black Eyed Pea. I don't really care for the Black Eyed Pea myself.
My two favorite peas to grow are the Purple Hull and various Crowders. They are very tasty , very productive and easy to Shell. My favorite pea to eat is a field pea, but it is very very difficult to shell since it is so tiny.
Now the peas that you are probably growing are quite a different type. "Cow peas" are sown early and harvested during the heat of summer . They need that heat
and the sun to finish out. I think the latter is where you are lacking with your particular peas that I figure you're growing. I did grow some green peas and snow peas. They still needed the sun, but definitely not the heat. When I grew them, they were definitely the first to hit the soil. I would usually chop what cover crop I had and then lay a heavy black tarp over the top to help warm the soil and get the biology going.
I doubt extremely seriously if you have any nutrient deficiencies. Any media that would grow good cannabis, would also grow quite nice and plump peas. That's why I'm saying it's the sun and maybe some temperature also.
I really think it's kinda left to Mother Nature If you're going to have a successful pea crop.
