I have to say @Mossy I get you 100%, doing the touristy stuff is exhausting :coffee2:

Yup......... :headbang: .......
Dog is gone. :-(

After she passed, the vet palpated her stomach and then showed me that she had a massive spleen tumor, about the size of a softball.
She said even if I dropped a few grand and had her remove it, it had already metastasized and she'd only get 2-3 months after that anyways, and she agreed we were absolutely doing the right thing.

It broke my heart because we had to carry her out to the car, and then as soon as we got to the vet, she perked up. She's always liked going to the vet. So she was happy and wagging her tail and we're trying to be like "no seriously, she's dying!" The vet said its totally normal that they perk up like that in a new location, its just anxiety and stuff.

They sedated her, and warned us that she'd likely gasp and stuff when they gave her the bigger dose of sedatives. But she was definitely ready to go, she didn't fight it at all, she just peacefully went.

She's buried next to the blackberries and tomatoes that she loved. She was always eating my tomatoes and berries right off the vine.
Unfortunately I'd dug the hole last night, and we've had a ton of rain, so it was half full of water. I felt like shit putting her in that. But, I'm sure it will help her decompose faster, and I have a nightmare of raccoons or my chi mix digging her up.

When we were leaving the vet, I was carrying her out the back door, and a family pulled in, in an SUV. Bunch of kids. I had to be like "oh hey, yeah, she's really sleepy from the medicine they gave her, so I'm carrying her."

She was a fantastic camping dog. She loved to be outdoors, and was very well behaved at the campground. Never barked at other dogs or people, only if they came into our campsite area.

I remember (or well, don't) drinking too much one night. Woke up the next morning in the storage area of our camper with a kid spooning me and I was spooning the dog.

Pretty girl. Sorry for your loss :bighug: :pass:

Yeah. It's rough. LOL! Thinking of my dogs give me tears of joy for all the things they have given me over my lifetime.
All the sillyass looks they give us when we do something that confuses them..............you're doing what?

All the fuggin "Happy Dances" we get when we come home!

All the "I know I'm guilty AF, but I'm really Sorry" looks when we come upon them doing something they KNOW they shouldn't be doing! Sometimes it makes it worse, but most times it's just too damn funny to get mad over!

The thanks for remembering my 'walk' after not hearing it for a couple of years and start your "Happy Dance" well before I got to the apartment door...........to the amusement of everyone inside. They all knew I was home.

All those all too uncanny moments, when they understand waaaaaay too much for an animal!!!
One Brittany Spaniel by the name of Freddy. Jesus! That dog was sharp and smart and had a very strong one individual personality. He was an amazing dog. He either got stolen, woulld have been quite the task with him, or he tackled a pack of coyotes and they were too much for him.

All the silly ass tricks they would learn or sorta make up on their own..........One shepherd would play peek-a-boo by covering her eyes with her paws. She came up with that. I just came up with the command.

This could be an endless post! :joy:

I find that remembering ALL your past pets, helps with the grieving process.

I would have LOVED to have grown old gracefully.
Let me correct myself:
I would have loved to have had the opportunity to have grown old gracefully. My injuries, while in the Navy, threw a monkey wrench into that plan.

I'm pretty sure I'd still be working hard every damn day and loving it, if I had not got hurt.
It does chap my ass at times, I'm human! Then the logical me tells me that life could have been better, or it possibly could have been a lot worse. The impact could have also affected others for better or worse.

It just boils down to what I've tried to do all my life.
Adapt
Adjust
Overcome

Sometimes those steps are difficult...........FU pain!.............and sometimes they are fairly easy.......FUUUUUUCCCCKKK YOU DOLPH............eeeeeerrrrrrr.............SMILIES!:muahaha::face::funny:
