I have so many horror stories about commercial cannabis, you'll never want to shop at a dispensary ever again lol.
I don’t and wouldn’t shop at a dispensary. I like knowing what the plant went through. And the hands that touch it. No offense but my finished product is WAY better than anything I’ve ever bought! And everyone who has taken part says I’ve got the most potent within 75 miles. There are a lot of growers around here but they are working with the same genetics that they started with. 15 yrs ago their bud smacked me in the face, now it’s blah... thank the powers that be for variety!

There's 4 of us running a 3,600 plant count grow. One guy slacks off, one guy goes to work with his mind on other things, one guy starts not giving a shit, one guy goes "not my job, not today," and it just goes tits up. Like EVERYONE has to give 100%, there is no not giving 100%. And that's the problem, these models require running on the most minimal labor they can afford, then try cutting costs (read that as cutting corners,) etc.

And we don't get paid shit. High school life guards at the swimming pool likely make more money than I do per month lol. It's really not about the money (I LOVE my job at the end of the day,) but it does wear thin when you don't get to have the kind of control you know would help grow better plants.

You 100% can grow quality cannabis, even commercially. Owners don't give a shit about that though, not when moldy ass weed can still be sold for profit.

Did you know they don't test for powdery mildew in the lab? It doesn't grow correctly on the agar substrate. So it's not a testing requirement for bud sold. Instead, it's more of a visual thing. If they can SEE it, they know it's not worth the full price. If your trimmers "trim off" the visible PM, it's like it's not even there (durrrrrr.)

Commercial cannabis is about growing the least amount of mold you can. That's probably the best way I can describe it.
That sucks, profit margins and such. I think they should have two classes. Commercial and small batch artisanal. Commercial for the overhead and artisanal for connoisseur consumer. Kinda like wines or whiskey. You have the stuff everyone can get then the other that consumers would drool over!

The grow I'm at started out growing all organic. I never saw it, but I was told the plants were just beautiful. But not very big. And they said the market just does NOT give a shit about organic cannabis. They could try to sell it all day as organic, but the ultimate question is always "yeah but how much a pound?" So as great as organic is? No one gives a SHIT. They want cheap ounces. That's you, consumers. lol

So they switched over to the Heavy-16 nutrient line and said they saw a 50% increase in overall yields on first harvest. Kind of hard to deny the power of synthetics.

Wow.:eek1: I won’t lie, I sell some of mine. I’m not even scared that my state is considering legalization cuz I know I’ll still have a market... a friend in Colorado told me that buying at a dispensary is like a fad for rec users. But once the shine fades they want the “home grown” more because of potency and quality. He lives near Boulder. For the medical user I’m sure it’s more convenient...

Sounds like a Job for the RotBloc Rep............. :pass: ....

Every now and then I pop into a dispensary in my area and ask for the strongest and best pre-roll they have. I have yet to get smoke even close to what I grow. Not saying that my smoke is so great just that theirs sucks. Not much taste or smell to it. I only would by pre rolls because the prices are crazy. Thanks for the insight @Son of Hobbes

I ass-u-me they tumble trim? I have requests for that from the younger ones but my hand trim is pretty tight and all the people my age would rather have hand over tumble trim... they know how much trichs they lose with that method
