No the water shouldn't bubble. You want to starve the roots of Oxygen so the plant is forced to result to anaerobic respiration. Which makes the plant produce ethanol as a bi-product while synthesizing NADH for energy. I think the actual production of ethenol will indeed make the bud swell while on the plant, but I also think all of the ethanol will evaporate in the drying process, which won't help your end yield much at all. I have never tried it though, just my

JM...no I did not use bubbled water as it did seem to counterproductive to do so...just used my usual well water...
