Lighting Light and tent size concern

Hi. Just asking some different folk for their opinions. 2 questions:

first question: I just bought an 800 watt cob LED light and I'm wondering if that is going to be enough power to cover a 36 x 36 x 72 space? I'm really hoping so, considering I already bought everything.

second question: is an 800 watt cob LED more powerful than a 250 watt HPS?

This is a "depends" answer all cobs are not created equal. There are several cheaper lights available on the market that put cob in the name, and while technically true, they are a far cry from a true COB setup. Brand would be helpful here.

I run 450 watts of do it yourself COBs in a 4x4 and am happy, I would guess (given I've run HPS in the past) that output for me is in the 900W of hps area.
25W (at the wall) per square foot is acceptable with quality lights.

It'll do the job, chances are you'll upgrade over time. I'm not a fan of active cooling, just one more thing to fail, but that's a preference. The biggest advantage for me moving to LED was power savings, found that that was were the "cheaper" lights really fell down. The grams per watt of what I consider marketable weed dropped off.

Arthur, what would you say the HPS equivalent of this light would be? Because I was previously using a 250 watt HPS in this tent with satisfying results. Is this a considerable upgrade?

Honestly (and this is just a guess) it is probably close to even.
If I was putting together a 3x3, quantum boards in the 250w range would be my pick,
Or, 250w of 3500k Citizen cobs or better.

Quick reading and just to let you know that is a 240w (true watts). It should be better than your hps but you will know when you harvest your first plant or plants.
I personally have 3 autocobs 3500k , 4000k and i forgot the other one. Its like 165w or so all together. From two plants a royal cheese from royal queen seeds and a gorilla something from shorstuff gave me about half lb.

@Misanthrope82 yeah those 240w of led should be better than the hps. It also just depends on what materials were used in that led. Other than that i say its a good buy.
