Say Piggy, I saw how well your plants grew under the 240 watt hydro Blackstar, and the price of the unit seems to be more in line with what I'd be willing to spend.......Well, ok, what my wife will let me spend.....How would you compare that to a 400 watt hid? Would it cover the same area? You were talking about how good your soil is, reminds me of Iowa, that state had some of the darkest soil I ever saw, and can grow anything............Here in MyGodit'sKansas, The dirt needs a lot of help unless your growing grass..........cow grass that is...
Anyway, I hope to soon own one of those lights, your grow and Seymore Buds' Think Different showed me that LED's rock!

A 400 watt HPS will cover a 3' x 3' area, a BS 240 a 2' x 2.5' area. Two BS 240s in that size area would be killer. If two are a bit over budget explain to the wife that there will be not only a considerable savings on electricity, also a significant savings on replacement bulbs. After about a year of constant use the output of HPS bulbs starts to slowly drop off and after about 18 months, declines very fast. It's generally recommended that they be changed by then. At about $100 a pop for a good Eye Hortilux, you will probably need to change HPS bulbs at least 3 times during the 50k hours lifespan of the LED. So when you add in the cost of replacement bulbs the HPS will cost more than the LED in the long run.
