Leaves signaling close to harvest?

Trichome farmer
Exactly what do you think stays in the plant inside the plant that would necessitate flushing your media with water to remove the nutrients from your media.
How does this flushing remove "something" from your plant that adversly effects the bud? Transpiration or somehow out the roots(no idea how it can go out the roots) are really the only two ways for the "something" to leave the plant that I know about.

I'm not trying to be argumentative. I'm a novice at growing canna, but quite experienced at organic gardening with over 30 years of active growing, not counting the years I helped my Grandma and learning from her.

I've been a science nerd all my life and it's very prominate in my mental process. I use the scientific method everyday, most of the time unconsciously It's just a part of me.

Have you ever looked at an Advanced Nutrients feeding schedule? It appears like A LOT of nutes and amendments, all of which are chemical/non-organic. THAT'S what I _think_ I'll be forcing out through the flushing process. I "bought into" the AN product line and, for better or worse, they recommend flushing with Flawless Finish in the last week to 10 days prior to harvest.

Forcing out how?
I've looked at the chemical make up of various chemical and even vegan fertilizers over the years. I get what they are attempting to accomplish and the method. I had a quite long exchange, many years, with the local Federal Extension Agent when I bought my farm. He was an old school chemical A&M graduate, so you know how he advised me. I didn't and don't subscribe to his methods and theories in growing plants.
About 5 years into my organic program after buying my farm, we had a very bad drought. I got MANY messages and finally a visit from the guy. He was wondering why my fields were still green, when almost all the other pastures in the county were brown. I laughed and told him I took Grandma's advice over his. He wasn't laughing, but I sure was! :funny: :funny: :funny:

it's my very first grow, I _surely_ don't know any better, and am relying on the folks who so graciously (hah!) took my money for nutes. What nutrients do you run?

In this first run, I'm semi-organic. Roots Organic Original as a base media with my organic amendments and left to cook for a couple of weeks until it won't heat up any after mixing.
I was going to use worms and feed them, but a racoon had other ideas for my worms! Hence the semi-organic. I've used MegaCrop one step. It's not a salt based nute. It's vegan. At the levels I'm using, it doesn't interfere with my micro flora and fauna. I'll be dropping the MegaCrop on the next grow because I'll be mainly growing in EarthBoxes and feeding my little gardening helpers. I've already tweaked my new mix to work with the EarthBoxes for better wicking to keep the mix at the proper moisture level.

I've harvested one of my girls on Friday and she's in 7 larger paper grocery bags hanging in the grow room.
Here's the results from my first canna grow. I'm happy with the results. It would have been much better, but I was a bit lax on eliminating damn gnats early enough and the larva hurt my root structure. Water and nute uptake was stunted some in the later part of bud development.

very nice!!!!!

Thinking I'm getting closer to harvest - I now have what I think are some amber trichomes, but since I've only ever seen pics, I'm still just guessing. All are past their "published times"...
