Perhaps too early since I am using Happy Frog soil? More likely that she just burns easier since the other plant did not burn from this and never has.
..naw, HF is mild stuff, and generally better overall quality that OF... that's the [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] problem soil i see here, and I know from direct experience that's it's often badly off pH (talking low 5's here!
)... I steer peep's away from
soils in general,... look for Roots Organics, or Royal Gold King's Mix,....
I do not have a TDS/EC meter. I kinda thought I didn't need one because I grow in soil which buffers decently. Is that wrong thinking? It must be wrong or you wouldn't be asking lol. Can you recommend a good one?
Total Dissolved Solid/Electroconductivity meters are nearly the same thing... TDS is an extrapolation of EC, expressed as more "friendly" ppm's (annoyingly, EC is a universal standard; TDS equivalent can vary by maker and country! For USA, 500ppm = 1.0 EC)...... the soil doesn't "buffer" this in the same sense that it does with pH,... these meters are good for knowing your water's hardness (CaCO3 content), and for testing you nutrient solutions concentration,... lots of nutes give similar amount for dosage, but not always the same NPK concentration! this can make for over/under feeding, but with that TDS meter, you KNOW what the strength is... In hydro, this is everything, but soil it's not as critical,...
..lots of good choices out there, HM brand makes a decent inexpensive unit,....
pH creeping up is why I asked about the water hardness,.. CaCO3 will start to drive pH up.. see, it's the carbonate part that;s involved with pH buffering, not the free Ca++,...
No, on the uptake time,... if they are readily absorbable forms the plant can take the up right away, and move I think about a foot/hour up the plant, very generally..? Only some organic forms need time to be broken down into those specific forms the plant can absorb,...
