New Grower Last time I failed but I am back to try again after a long break - Goidian Ganja

When seeds are just put in the pots..just spray water or keep it moist..dont let the soil dry ..crucial..not wet just moist..yellow leafs in the very start of seedlings are usaually becuase of too much water..its a matter of keeping moist . Ill keep watching ur grow
He who stands and run away will live to fight another day.. Show them what u got brother

Salutations GoidianGanja

I have read through your postings and one or two points stand out...

I learnt alot from my failure, I was giving superb nutrients and soil and still battling to give supplements not realizing that the discoloration was being caused by microscopic bugs and so I am back with vengeance

I will confess I am furfurbishing some old soil with new neutral peat but the old soil is still excellent

Yes this soil may be an excellent source of the dreaded spidermite that your ladies previously suffered from which may like you come back with a vengence... and potentially also fungus gnats... I do not know your financial state of affairs... perhaps you would be better off investing in completely new soil with a lesser risk of contamination for the grow rather than using the refurb and then chemical control for any pests it contains...

I just transfer them to the pots and their moist warm peat beds as a week in the cracker clam is enough I reckon and the sprout is pointing up through a this layer of socially responsibly sourced peat.

If the sprout is the white tap root... you really should plant them pointing downwards otherwise the sprout has to expend valuable energy turning downwards.... which could be a reason for the no show of seed leaves above ground...

Exactly 1 week old today and they still have not poked their heads through yet

See above for a possible reason...

and although there is no birth yet the pre-emptive care continues:

1) Regular close monitoring of pots , soil and surroundings for bugs or larvae -vigililence here is mega important
2) lamps ready to be fired up as soon as they poke through
3) Yellow stickies placed all around perimeter to monitor and assess possible bug attack routes
4) Always shower and put on fresh clothes before going near the girls

Good to have a plan in place and to be so attentive... Point four is particularly good....

Just wondering if the gals like spliff smoke blown all over them? could it prevent bugs?

Mmmmh would the smell of burning human flesh want to make you thrive by any chance???

Good luck....

:tiphat:

.............and still nothing! Wierd last time I planted I had real fast sprouting action before failure

I just took another bean and put her for sprouting as these 3 are not showing any promise whatsoever

Just out of interest I am really curious as to what is the longest time you have ever seen a bean mouching around before popping?

They are from the same batch as my last grow 3 years ago so maybe the seeds got too old? Does age affect well kept beans?

URGENT ADVISE REQUEST well I popped the 4th seed and still nothing so I popped the 5th and final bean 24 hrs ago. Well had a look and nothing happening except on the 5th and final bean, I must admit that 5th bean was the most beautifull that is why I was saving her, I finally realised the longer I save the bean the less chance of germination to I let her try. This final bean has sprouted a root 1cm long and is in tissue. I guess she goes in the soil root down and seed head up and so my question is now that a root has popped 1cm in the tissue how long should I wait before transfer to peat pot - please advise ASAP for the advice to be beneficial as I am right here over my last bean if you understand what I mean?

Thank you Elvis, Cali Man, NamVet25 and Sniper - thanks to NamVet25 and Sniper for the pot command and I can confirm that it has been done, bonus thanks to Mr Ganjamoto and this bean has gone into a pot made from the bottom of a plastic bottle used for ice tea filled with peat.

Info share: A slight depression was made in the peat to receive the seed from the tissue to be done without touching the root. Now here many might worry that the bean goes in correct but with this method you should not worry as this MJ foetus is very delicate, let the foetus fall gently from the tissue onto her peat. Now no matter how she is I simply take my sterilized surgical instruments, any clean knife blade or little screwdriver blade will do and then slowly and carefully push it on the soil in a way that will cause the bean to gently adjust so she has her root down and head up for easy delivery. Note that this simple operation I make simpler by following the golden rule and that is the tool should never touch bean or root, using slight strategic soil movement it is possible to safely navigate the bean into bed. Once the bean is the right way she is lightly covered with 1 mm of peat. The bean is about 2.5mm and the root about 10mm meaning that the bottom of the root is about 10mm deep (not 13.5mm because the root is not perfectly straight). Now again some of you may scream "only 1mm on that poor gals head?" I want to let you know that i am trying to let her give birth her not bury her and that using this system of strategic soil movement I can add extra mm of peat or soil mix on top afterwards if necessary. I am praying now that she pops, my other beans appear to crack but no root forthcoming. I have different pots for repotting at the ready she has a 300cc pot now and I can upgrade to any size up to 500 litres. Look guys if she does pop through she is going to be my only gal this year. If she does pop good news is that there a bunch of landrace seeds from a selected lemon salivator - you see those poor beans would never be given a chance of live if there was no chance of a special girl to be waiting.

Listen God, Allah, Buddha, Rahu Krishna and the rest of you, I am an atheiest, if you wish for me to even consider for a nanosecond your existence then make my final bean grow and when I take a puff I shall give you all a moments thought - I swear that just for a moment I shall open my heart and let you know, if I feel surrounded by angels I will believe in you God, If those angels smell like virgins I will believe in you Allah and if I sense nirvana i will believe in you buddha, if I feel the power of the night I will believe in you Rahu and if the weed is superdank I say Boomshanka to you Krishna, if it is all these things then I thank all you Gods and if it is ultrahazey then I thank the Ganja Gods and if I get no bud then I remain a pure atheist without hope.

Why did i write this? because i really do appreciate all the touching and supporting tips that were all very valuable, Elvis hit me with my weakest point - patience - with that boost Ganjamoto helped calm the the technicals and Sniper and Namvet were super fast to deliver the necessary command, without the command there could be no spliff as you cannot go into the operating theatre to transplant the foetus when you are stoned as it is a violation of seed surgeons ethics, if I was kept waiting late into the night waiting for the command just staring at the unlit splifferooni it would be torture worse than any waterboarding. Now thanks to you guys she is safe now in her own little Cu Chi tunnel - yes NamVet I just wanna let you that many tourists smoke crap weed that they think is great in Vietnam partly cause it is so cheap but there is awesomely good weed available and many tokers in what is rapidly becoming the Amsterdam of Asia with chic hiso tokers spliffing up medical hazes in the coffeeshops. Many overseas Vietnamese are bringing medical weed culture back to Vietnam and it is booming. The weather is awesome for backyard growers and the numbers are rising rapidly.

Ah I have just been celebrating (still am) that one bean made it and my first question after a seed with 1cm goes the right way under with a mm of topsoil over her head how many days do I have to wait at most to see her head pop through? it makes me feel like I am gonna be a father again!! The good thing is the celebration has left me more stoned than I have been this year so I am definately happy. The other 4 died and I am afraid this one will too so i am dying to know how long to wait before I know live or die?
