Yeah... But to be fair she found something that worked and just stuck with it. And by "worked" I mean that eventually she had some plant matter with some trichs on it. No real large buds or anything. But it worked for her, so who am I to criticize. She's been doing this for years now, and has been helping me out when I was unable to get or grow my own. Yeah, the weed sucked, but it was better than nothing.
So when I moved into my current place, the opportunity presented itself to grow my own. I researched the shit out of it, and got a quarter pound off my first plant. (A feat I have yet to be able to reproduce). My sister was so impressed that she started to rethink her approach. A few grows later, and I am dropping off a jar of stanky Strawberry Nuggets. That's when she whipped out the debit card and asked me for advice.
Her husband is hesitant to adapt all my suggestions, insisting that slowly adapting my suggestions is somehow better than just doing it right in the first place. I gave them my two ViparSpectra 600s, nutrients, pH and PPM meters, and tons of advice, and so far all he's done is use the lights. The crap nutes he was using still produced crap results, though maybe a bit better than before.
Then I dropped off a jar of my last grow of Speed Bud - and it has a really amazing lemony taste - and NOW they've decided that maybe I know what I am talking about. I still consider myself a newbie, and I think she realized that if I am blowing away her years-old approach, maybe it's time to change wholesale, and has convinced her husband to "listen to my brother, dummy."
I don't mind giving them stuff I grow. I take as much (or more) pride in my weed than I do in my cooking/breads. Sharing either with someone else is an honor, and I am blessed to be able to do so. At least that's how I see it.
