So.
I pulled the trigger and bought an autopot system last night. My back problems and busy schedule have kept me from being able to care for my girls how I like.
Any tips on using that set-up, Or is it basically just "plug and play"? (Ie When leaves are as wide as the pot, Put the pot on and let 'er rip?)

It's a pretty easy setup process Dichoti! I've recently set mine up after taking a break! Theres a whole thread that i'll find the link for you about auto pots - think @pop22 set it up and probably knows more than most about them (he's made some himself i think!!)

I'll come back and edit in the thread address when i find it! :D

edit:
hi @Jraven :D

Hey dichoti - there's a whole subforum dedicated to them here
https://www.autoflower.org/forums/autopots-watering-systems.329/

But the 3rd sticky is Pops thread thats been going ages! He knows his onions (autopots)

:D

My main tip would be to watch for PH difference between res and trays :pass:

Instead of doing that, I make my solution 12 to 24 hours in advance. I no loner adjust PH for at least 6-8 hours after mixing the solution. I find the PH rises the longer it sits in the bucket for at least the first 2-4 hours. I also now use a fish tank heater in the bucket and bring the temp up to what it would be in the res, 70-72F. Then I adjust it as needed and let it sit another 4-16 hours for a total of 24 hrs.. I've found that my ph stabilizes and doesn't need another adjustment in the res. I haven't check PH in the res in over a year without issues by doing it this way. Doing it this way prevents PH fluctuations in the res.

My res has been stable throughout, I had fluctuations in my actual autopot trays

The rootzone is always going to be different, you roots are constantly trading H+ for nutrient ions and usually drives PH down in the rootzone. By feeding the plants a supply of nutrients that is not only PH stable, but also a consistent PPM/EC level, and maintained at the root level, you shouldn't see the kind of shift that happens in top watered/fed plants, unless there are other issues.
