Hi fellas, it's been awhile since I stopped by the old autoflower.net. Just figured I would stop by and share a few pics of my outdoor autos this yr. not sure the strains as I like to buy the mixed pack of autos when I order. I panted 3 seeds just incase one didn't go but they all popped so I put the extra seed in a small pot for shits and giggles but once it got taller it kept falling over so I just left it grow on its side and it turned out pretty good, I also topped that little guy just for something to do and it didn't even phase it or slow it down. I also bend the main colas over on the big plants after growing and pissing around with autos the last few yrs bending the main colas over I find gives me a bigger yield in the end

if I had to guess the green pot is auto afghan the brown pot is lowryder and the mini is bluecheese

Looking good there - I really like that idea of the knocked over pot - (or perhaps experimenting taking them vertically into flower and then planting into the ground in a prone position).

For me this might improve yield given limited space and poor climate. Can you give any more info (eg. how far on was it before it fell over and you decided to leave it?). Everything helps... My personal experiences of stem bending with autos were less than successful and I didn't think it improved my yield - but i was trying several things at once (trying to do too much and not enough experience). Last couple of years I've just let them go au-naturel with pretty good results.

Getting towards the outdoor growing season here - lots of rain so mould an issue. But I have three Purple Ryders going back into the coldframe for the end of season so might give this a go with them (would also cut their height and get the tops closer to the sun when the lids off).

Thanks

Hi Spliffscot that mini was around 6 inches tall when it started to fall over most of the reason being was the hot weather and such a small pot it was drying out fast making the pot light and any bit of wind would knock it over, when I water I just stand it back up wait till its fully drained then put it back on its side. As for cutting and topping autos it's a hit and miss thing, I topped a couple when I first started the autos and it stunted them a lot, but when I topped this guy it didn't even slow it down. That's most of the reason why I just bend my autos now. And all I bend is the main cola over when it's about 8inches tall or when u start to get your side branches. I tried the multiple bends too and things didn't work out for me either that well, hope this helps u out a bit

Will update you next year when I feel brave enuff to start bending and training again haha. Will be interesting to try a couple just to see - but growing small numbers of each strain and sometimes autos showing quite different phenos makes comparative evaluation virtually useless, but fun. 6" is quite young so will be interesting to give it a go next year on something that produces a lot of side budding.
