I just ordered a 5 pack of SS #1 and had some questions about how to grow that strain. I'm not where to post them.

Whats your question bud?

I have several actually.

This strain only grows for 60 days, what's the minimum size pot to use? I read that it's not a good idea to transplant so whatever pot I plant them in after germ, stays in it's pot for it's life. As this is going to be a micro grow I need the smallest pot that won't restrict it's growth.

This strain grows its second laterals and then goes into flower. Do I just use flowering nutes or veg nutes first, then start flowering nutes after the second lateral?

Someone said that auto's don't like the red spectum at all. They recommended 6500k until it flowers, then use HPS, or cfls but don;t use 2700k at all.

Because this strain flowers so quickly, do I run them from the first day to the last day at 20/4, 24/0 or 18/6?

Hi sandDog

I would put them babies straight in 10litre pots and leave em in there till the end your right about autos not wanting to be transplanted.

The nutes, use grow nutes untill 2nd week of flowering Then switch to bloom nutes dont get tempted to switch early

As for lights I'm a LED MAN so unable to help you there :)

Peace out

Depends really on the space you have available, bigger the pot the better but if you are limited for space the biggest your space will allow, if you check out the beer can comp on here a auto will even grow in something that small, is worth remembering though the smaller the pot the faster if will dry out and you will have to be feeding more often, so would need to keep a eye on that.

Check out Muddys guide on the lifecycle of autos, that will give you all the info you need on when to change nutes and what to look for.
https://www.autoflower.org/f44/life-cycle-auto-flowering-cannabis-5113.html

All Cannabis need the red specturm, especially in the flowering stage. 6500K is perfect for veg but as she goes into flower you would want a dual range of the two 6500K + 2700K with the majority of the light in the red range. As for the timings will get 1000 different answers on this is all personal preference really any of the times you mentioned will work well, i personaly think a little dark time helps.

Have fun and happy growing.

Thanks guys. I really hope I don't screw this up. I just moved to a new state and have no bud/contact.

I chose this strain because I was told that within 3 weeks from seed there would be something to smoke. They didn't claim that it was potent at that age but enough to take the edge off. I would take that today and be grateful.

My plan is to get this strain grown enough to tie me over until I can grow another strain that is stronger and produces more.

I have some bag seed I could start now but not sure how that would work in the same cabinet. (mini fridge) If I tried to run the bag seed 12/12 from seed, it might not grow at all once I switched over to 20/4 to grow the autos.

I'm thinking coco would be faster than soil but at a greater risk of failure. I think I need a local hookup more than anything right now. I'm talking in circles today.

Welcome Sd,
Hopefully, we can get you through several weeks of wanting to chop her before her time.
I have grown many of the Shortstuff strains.
You want between 8-12 liters of a soil or soil-less mix.
If you get soil, buy a nice organic potting mix for vegetables. Most brands should have enough nutrients in them to feed your autos without burning them.
Post up on this thread with what is available to you, so we can advise before you make any big purchases.R
Regular bagseed won't flower under 20/4 so I wouldn't bother with those for your minifridge cabinet.
Three weeks is not reasonable to expect anything of worth.

Good luck,
GB

First if you want to do small to give her to finish in that time frame. The bigger the pot the bogger the plant and the longer it takes. Check out our 16oz beer can competition you can see the potential using small containers.

Yes you want to start with veg nutes then around week 5 switch to flower nutes. If you plant are in a smaller pot they should stop growing vertical by then.

I'm sorry whoever told you autos hate red spectrum eitherhas very little experience or is just saying something they heard from the internet or word of mouth. Autos love red spectrum more than any other spectrum since they flower fast and red spectrum stimulate flowering.

What's the size of your grow space and what type of light you plan to use?

Well, guys I appreciate your help here and setting me straight. I'll try to be a good student and make you guys proud. :)

I'll go look at the 16 oz beer can thread but I have seen some pretty impressive growth before. Seems like I saw a 12/12 from seed post on rollitup or ICmag once before where they were growing serious single colas in 20 oz soda bottles and I think those were regular strains. My guess is this #1 finishes at 60 days so maybe the growth requirements might be similar or less.

They were using Hempy buckets and turning those 20 oz bottles into mini hempy's if I recall.

Magic, my space is 18 wide x9" deep and 36" tall but there is more room than that by measurement. I'll post up some photos so you can see exactly what I have to work with. It's a mini fridge with a shelf in the back and there are trays in the door that might be useful too.

I have plenty of CFL's and one 150w HPS with an external ballast. I have timers, PH meter, themometer, PH down, fans and filter. What I don't have are containers, medium and nutes and know how. Seeds were just order today from Herbies.

Hey sandDog welcome to the site.. just a quick tip.. make sure u use a root pruning pot rather than just an ordinary plastic one.. like an airpot, fabric pouch style, watever u can get.. as long as it does the root pruning job itl give much better results in my experience..good luck with the grow ;-)
