Both photos were taken at the same time and both plants are White Widow CBD by Dutch Passion. Both were germinated on August. 5th. The soil for both is native loam with some Malabu compost mixed in. They both get well water and no other nutes.

So....wtf?

ones in the ground the other is in a pot, theres a variable....also theres such thing as phenotype...like the photoperiod gg number 8...there were 7 phenos that people didnt much like :pass: and sometimes theres a runt/stunted.
:pighug:

This just seemed like too great a difference to be attributed to phenotype variation but that opinion only reflects my inexperience with autos. One of the short comings of prop 64 is only being able to only grow 6 plants. Pretty difficult to spot pheno patterns when you only pop two of each strain.

I haven't been able to find much info about doing no till sungrown autos. And i suspect that throws another variable into the equation; which strains/phenos respond favorably to a shorter cycle of sunlight vs a longer cycle of artificial light.

What are your outdoor environmentals like? I find if I start autos outside, I have small girls. Your pics lead me to think pretty warm, and low rH?

When I run autos outside, I start them indoor and get them established in veg before moving out. Seems that first couple weeks temp and RH make a major impact... and when on a clock, time can't be wasted.

I live near Paso Robles, California our climate is very similar to southern humboldt or mendocino county, but without the fog or rain that hits at harvest time. We average over 80 days a year with temps over 90° and about 20 days with temps over 100°Currently the temp is 94°and tonight it will likely dip to 55°. And as you guessed we have low relative humidity, Mold is rarely a problem and we rarely get any rain from may through September. We usually get three or four heat waves with temps that can hit 110°. The high temps are why I grow my plants in the ground, the sun really bakes the roots in containers.

It can be challenging to grow outdoors here but the terps make it all worth the effort

Grow bags... start indoor... plant the whole thing bag and all. Roots will shoot right thru.
