I'm planning to just mount a 6" tent flange facing out (flange outside) at the bottom of my tent then put the Shroom on the flange. Are the Shrooms light tight (both internal and external)?

Thanks,
KS

:crying:What a dumb pig. After reading this I was wondering "What's a dust shroom light, and why would it be tight?"

I would like to know about these as well. If they're light tight I would like to pick one up when funds permit.

damn, 100 bones for a six inch dust shroom? I think I'll just make something myself out of a three dollar furnace filter.

:crying: That shit was funny. I have also thought about getting that size it yourself filters for you AC intake and sizing it to the back intake flap of my tent. It is already screened pretty small, but a filter would be even better. I don't have ducting for intake so no need for the Shroom. They are cool though. Sorry, I don't know if they're light tight. It seems like I read somewhere that they are..Don't quote me on that though.

I need to build a baffle/dust box for my tent. I'm not used to growing without an intake filter and I worry about contaminates and critters getting in. Light too, The tent poses a new challenge as I can't spare the change for 6" ducting.

I have a review on the 6inch dust shroom, but I don't think I mentioned if it was light tight or not. To answer your question, the dust shroom is mostly light tight. The reason I say "mostly" is because if you are looking at it straight on, from a level view, you can make see a small amount of light. But from any other angle, it's light proof. I have mine in a window also protected by a screen, but it goes directly into my room at the same level the lights are at. I also have neighbors behind me, but it's such little light that I don't think any one would notice. It's plenty light proof, just not 100% from a direct, straight on view. Feel free to leave any more ? On my thread about it (it's in product review)

Oh I'm not worried about light getting out, just about light getting in. No hermies for me.

Oh, then that thing is perfect. Mine is filtering the fresh air from outside and to prevent the mass amounts of yellow pollen coming into my room. It does a great job. I see lots of pollen built up on it, but I'm pretty sure it will last all summer before needing a good cleaning come winter. It's pretty expensive, but I'm so happy to have it this year. Last year I didn't, and my hoods and entire room were covered in pollen and dust. Hope this helps

Thanks Medecine, I checked out your review and will post my experiences once I get the Shroom (it's backordered). Looks like just the ticket to me.

@Piggy: Until it arrives I have an air filter pre-filter sheet that I have wrapped around the tent flange and secured with a tie wrap. I'm sure it is not 0 CFM loss like the Shroom but it will do in a pinch ;)

Not Light Tight!

The shroom is not light tight, not even close. I have it mounted on a flange at the bottom of my tent so it is not receiving any direct light from the HPS, just reflected light.

And it glows like a space ship! :(
I must conclude that light gets in as well. Disappointed...
