IS STORING MY SEEDS THIS WAY SAFE?

What do folks think about vacuum sealing in a small mason jar?

With all that is going on right now, I had watched a couple of prepper channels and they claim they can keep wheat/corn/rice without it going bad for 25 years.

I would probably split it into 2 jars one being the use now seeds and the second is "open in case of zombies".

I went with these wisedry they will be here Sunday. My mini fridge has already arrived. The warmest that this fridge will stay is 40degrees. Seeds are best stored at 42 to 44. Do you think 40 is okay?

Also do I put the packets in my dry box with the seeds? Or do I have to get another box big enough for my dry box and put them in that

If the seeds are in fully sealed containers, desiccant packs are not needed. What will they ever do for the seeds? The seeds should be in containers that are air- and water-tight (and probably already are).

I would expect the main refrigerator hazard (water source) would be condensation when the door is opened. Desiccant will not stop that, at best soak up the water over days.

Perhaps, look into how seed banks, breeders and culture collections preserve their seeds. For example, how do Mephisto, Dutch Passion, etc. store their seeds long-term?
