Lighting Is California Lightworks one of these problem children? If so......

Well known blogger says and boy ain't it the truth:
When LED grow lights are not made for a plant like cannabis, they can cause leaves to turn brown and crispy, or show nutrient deficiencies for no reason, especially in the cannabis flowering stage

Could this have been at the heart of the problem after suspecting water, nutes, ph, pests, fungus, etc, etc? LED lighting's spectrum or having it too close to the plants? Does anyone know a make and model of led "proven" to be cannabis compatible? Is CLW one of them?

I've grown plenty of good pot under a clw 220, but yes when I first switched to led I also switched to airpots. My suspicion is the combo increased nutrient take up. I now use black dog and no problem. But that's just anecdotal, too many variables, the [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] being I am crop by crop getting dialed in how to grow these autos under led in airpots. otherwise, what the heck do you think clw was making lights for? A renewed interest in orchids from stay at home moms?

In the past I have utilized a couple of SolarFlare 200 bloomers for my auto's. Good product. Performed well for the wattage. Right now I am using a couple of the Pro Grow X5-300. I've owned quite a few of their lights over the years. Obviously I like them.

Just because they're making leds for you and me doesn't mean they got it right and just aren't fessing up in they're marketing material. "Buy CLW. Spectrum's close enough!". In fact CLW has learned a thing or two since I've been using it. One, that you should have it farther away from the plants than casually thought, that the led light at a height that doesn't feel too hot to us is too hot for the plant. And that autos in particular benefit from a full spectrum for the whole grow and do not benefit from flipping. He said I would be best served by using the 440 in veg mode for the whole grow hence running it at 235W when bloom is rated at 320W but not using it.

So, Autowonder, as per my above comment, if you told CLW you wanted a Solarstorm(Flare?) 220 they'd say get the full cycle, or veg. Do you see any diff with the Pro Grows?

I had a solar storm 440 a few years ago with the uvb. I was not impressed.

I am no authority on it, but I own 4 CLW leds. 2 of the older Solar Storm 400's in a 4 x 4 and it rocks the shit out of that tent. I use veg for 2-3 weeks and hit the bloom switch with both spectrums for the remainder and the uvb the last 2.5 weeks. Not a burnt diode, nothing and mine have been on 20/4 since the beginning of 2012 and still growing great bud. Seedlings I put the panels 30 inches from top of pot and let them grow up to the led. I move them up a bit when the plants get tall, then in flower, I put the panel at 11 inches in full bloom. I have 2 of the 220w solar flares in a 2 x 4 tent and rocking the shit out of that tent too.
Every led brand is a new learning curve, so dont let anyone tell you brand X sucks or brand X is better than what you are looking at. I am currently testing the Platinum LED P300 and love this light. It has a 5 year no haggle warranty, which is one of the best in the business! Get a good brand name led with a great warranty is the best advice I can give. Check out the live vendor section and look at some grows with people testing and growing with the led companies on site.
Call and talk to Brandon a Cali Lightworks if you want to proceed with that company. He is a stand up guy and wont push you to buy. Do your research first and it will save you time and money. talk to Tom in any Platinum LED thread too, he knows his stuff with led also. No pressure there either!Many more companies to buy from. Viparspectre is a company off amazon that has some great panels. They have some older technology, but for that price point, you could buy 5 of em over the CWL and they have a 5 year warranty as well. Lots of things to consider. I just bought 2 of the 600's for 400 bucks!! With amazon its a guaranteed warranty and at that price for 199.00 each was a no brainer!

Brandon is a stand up guy for sure. Took my light back zero questions asked. Their build quality is top notch and EVERYTHING is built in house. Their pcb work on the drivers and pcbs are very nice. When I said I was not impressed I just meant with the price point. Sure everything was built amazing quality but for the price I couldn't justify it. The new lights look nice and the controller is ok at best. It looks like a reef keeper lite all day though.

In the end all that matters is Customer service. Go with a company or vendor who will back their gear.
