Grow Mediums Is a Flush Always Necessary Mid-Grow with AutoPots?

That's the stuff of nightmares!! I only feed 10 litres at a time (max) .... just in case! I exoect if there's a leak, it will be in the tent at the pot (rather than at the rez with the tube stuffed in)
I "think" .. 10 lirtes will sit in the tent without any dangers of hitting electrics or leaking out!
(Think AND hope!) lol
Changing my rez size is on the list, but not done yet. I am too busy setting up my solo cup fun, but I have been watching the valves like a hawk. I still do not know what happened with the one leak I have experienced, although just before the leak I had pulled and re-installed the valve so it is possible that I either jammed or partially flooded the internal valve during replacement of it in the tray. I will never know now. The odds of my single leak experience being with water only is a real head scratcher to me. Bottom line is that a rez smaller than your tent floor "capacity" is a good idea, as is being really fastidious with valve maintenance. The other good idea is a far more serious filter arrangement than the standard foam filter provided by Autopot. I use a pleated household filter mounted inside my reservoir, far finer filtration, and far higher capacity than those tiny things from Autopot.

If you’re looking for dead simple, look into supersoil.

No, you don’t have to mix your own. You can get a supersoil concentrate off amazon that you mix with good soil. I like the platinum growers mix from Coast of Maine, and Mother Earth had a nice soil as well.

Add 1.25lb of the concentrate to a 5gal pot, add regular soil until it’s 1/3 full. Mix really well (I also add a little bit of worm castings).

From there, top off the pot with regular soil. I also add worm castings and a couple minor nutes and mix into the top 2/3, and then add a dozen red wigglers.

Water only, no mixing or fussing or squat. (Disclosure: longer running flower times either need more supersoil in the bottom, or you may have to supplement with some nutes towards the end.)

Dead simple, and one hell of a time saver.

do you do this with Autopots?

do you do this with Autopots?

Absolutely.

No domes, pebbles, or the like.

- crack seed in water

- sprout in a rapid rooter

- soon as it sprouts and the tap root is just about to hit the bottom of the rooter, turn on the res, plant the rooter, and slap a humidity dome over.

Easy peasy.

^^ Did exactly that over the last couple of days.

Into the drink Tuesday evening. All 4 cracked with nice tails early afternoon Wednesday, and into rooters. Sprouted and 2" or so Friday evening and into a fresh pot under a humidity dome. Res on, and off they go. Other than quick peeks for general purpose, won't do much for the next week. Domes then off, and about 7-10 days or so it will be top and train time.

Can't remember who exactly here turned me on. Pops or similar. Either way it was like fresh rays of sunshine on the significant amount of time they've saved me mixing nutes, changing water, etc. Hours of my weekend, and more. :toke:

And to keep on topic, no flushing to worry about, no salt build up, etc.
