Lighting Interested in starting a CFL Grow.

Hey guys, I am planning on creating a setup to grow indoors this winter.

It'll be composed of approximately 5 50 Watt CFL's
A couple of boards cut into a shape like this;

With a Light in each of the boards,

I am wondering if a 6" Spacing between each light and the plant will be sufficient to avoid burning but give it enough heat to keep her happy.

I'll be putting extra blocks underneath the set up as the plant grows, my plan is to put it over top of the plant, so it'll light up the whole canopy.

any feedback is much appreciated.

How do you plan on ventilating the plants? Is smell an issue where you're at? It will become one quickly. Are the cfl lights an actual 50 watt or equivalent?

No, Smell is not an issue,

Ventilation will not be a problem, it isn't an enclosed box.

It will be boards made in a shape around to plant, With light bulbs inside of it.

If I can't get any actual 50 watters, i'll just use different types of bulbs, and increase the spacing between the lights and the plants.
Or just bump up the watts per light, and reduce the amount of lights and lay them out differently, that is also an option.

Yeah the diagram turned out wrong, It was originally spaced out and I don't know the alt code for spacing.

Yeh thats fine you can get CFLS as close as 3-4inch with no problems and alsong as you are exhausting your hot air out, you should be fine I use CFLs also mate :dance:
