Is this your first grow? If so, I would recommend that you do a couple grows in soil before attempting hydro. Soil is more forgiving and if you make a mistake you will have more time to correct it. In hydro, things can go wrong fast.
Many people here are growing in tents with good results. While kits are available that have all you need, most buy the tent and separate components such as the lights, exhaust fan, circulation fans, etc. What type of light to use depends on your environment. HPS create a lot of heat. The new T5s like the Quantum Bad Boys do a very good job. LEDs are also very good. A little more money up front but cheaper to run over the long haul.
Definitly agree. Do soil with T5 badboy 8 bulb. Buy 4 red bulbs and mix them with the blue.
