I have some spider mites. Could use some advice before I drop another nuke on them.

Hey gang,

I am currently growing an RRF female that i have seeded for future growing indoors. I am doing this seed run outside so that i could avoid pollen contamination in my house.

Anyways, I noticed about 2 weeks ago the first symptoms of a spidermite infestion. I have taken appropriate action and sprayed the plant with 2 high doses of Azamax about 6 days apart. It unfortunatly rained about 2 hours after application yesterday so, I will probably repeat this tonight.

I am seeing about 1-2 mites on each leaf at the moment. this is on average. there are some leaves with not mites and some with more than 2. but, overall it does not seem like alot of mites to me. So my question is this, is this current population density of mites I have just serious enough to merit a third spraying? Are these just stragglers who have yet to die and are incapable of reproducing? If so, my problem is in the process of being solved right?

Any opinions based on experience in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

To be most effective, treatments should be repeated about every 3-4 days, at least 3 treatment. Most insecticides only kill the adults, not the eggs. So the additional treatments are needed to kill the ones still hatching out. With all my outdoor plants I start weekly treatments of insecticidal soap as a preventative as soon as the buds start to fatten up. Those little bastards love the buds. Last year I only lost about an oz. out of 4.5 lbs. to spider mites by doing this.

thanks man! i'm prepping another batch of aza right now.

i agree with muddy, just one more thing, try to get a soft sponge spray it with normal water that you use to water your babes and a really small amount of azamax, just enough to cover the top layer of the sponge and wipe your leaves softly with it every day and every night, should be good enough as you only seen the adults yet the wiping does help to remove and kill the hatched and small bitchs in there sorry for my words of expression
good luck! :)

yeah, i think these little fuckers latched on when i hid it in the bushes over the weekend. i see no real sign of eggs nor is there much in the way of silk. no one has commented on the population per leaf so far but, i'm going to assume that seeing a 1-2 per leaf is not a huge deal and easily managed using aza.

i just nuked the shit out of my girl by the way. i used 25ml's of aza in about 1 liter of water. the reason being for the excessive ammount prepped is that i sprayed every plant and the grass outside my pool cage in about a 10 foot radius from the plant.

Good luck with them. I had em inside. Ihad the red ones and as Mossy says they are the borg.

mites are not just on cannabis, i have been growing cannabis for 2 years not more so am no expert, but through my life i have been growing plants and i filled every room of my house with atleast 3 plants each room, so mites is one thing am sure of, 2 mature spidermites can lie aprox of 500,000 eggs to 1 million believe it or not, and eggs will hatch in 7-10 days, even when they hatch you wont see them by the naked eye, they are too small, specially eggs are impossible to see by the naked eye, just to be asure of make sure you wipe it, spraying the leaves and under the leaves will kill the babys and the mature onse but it will NOT get rid of the eggs, wiping was proved to get rid of 10-25% of their eggs|

good luck and happy growing and toking :bong:

Muddy is right - needs consecutive sprays 3 or 4 days apart and variation of the treatment - little buggers learn.

HOT SHOT NO-PEST STRIPS. Had red spider mites that kept on coming back. I tried everything. Finally I locked my plants into a small outdoor closet overnight with one of the strips hanging overhead (looks like an air freshener). I was amazed to see that it had killed them ALL in the morning. Just have to be careful and read the precautions but they never let me down. Been using NO PEST strips and laughing at mites ever since! Hope this helps...
