This was on the 19, I’m about to enter a week from the very first signs of flowers and idk what’s going on up top of my plant. It’s budding just looks jacked. First time grow. Any suggestions? Before and afters
When you fim you can hit up to three generations of leaves the smaller ones usually take longer to recover to the point that you can be worried. I fim a lot of my plants. I don't find that it slows down anything except the top affected. What you are trying to do is give more light and energy to the sights below it allowing them to grow more before they get shaded out. To me the plant looks like it is having a nutrient or watering problem.
@Tresir Welcome to AFNIt looks as if you may have a PH problem but it is hard to tell because you keep stressing the plant. I only top above the fourth node ASAP before day 21. Autos do much better without the stress. Then I do nothing until late flower when I will defoliate a little underneath for air flow. All that training on autos is a waste of time and effort. I am getting 36 oz of six plants in a 4x6 grow space.

So I’m guessing next time I feed I should measure the ph of my run off? Or would a slushie test work? Also When is a good time to defoliate? Day 21 of flower? I’ve also read from “auto-beast” that training is ok for autos. So much info out there. Ty for taking the time to help.

You are welcome.
Run-off is a poor measurement for PH because so many things are going on in the pot that can have an effect including root exudates. A slurry test if done correctly will give you a fairly accurate PH but you need to take samples from various places and depths in the pot to get an average. This is disruptive to the roots. The better method is to use a good quality PH soil probe. Cheap ones generally do not work well or at all. The Accurate 8 or the clone of it have proven themselves here along with Blue Lab and other lab quality tools.
@Autobeast is a great grower I learned how to top an auto from him many years ago on another forum. I know he does some training I just don't bother because in my personal efforts it did not improve the quality or yield. So why bother.
There is no set time for me to defoliate. I just do it when it looks like it needs better air flow. I think I was about 2 weeks from harvest this last time. I am sorry I did not take any pictures of the defoliation. This was before though.
Yes there is a ton of different grow styles here and most of them are successful. Just use some common sense when choosing who to emulate.
