Hi Guys...I have had to re register due to some unknown problems....Anyway my issues are my humidity in my tent.
I have a de humidifier in a 1.2m2 tent and struggling to get the RH below 55 with lights on. I have a 16l de humidifier which i am needing to empty 2 times a day with approx a litre coming out each time.
The room the tent is in has no heating apart from the 600w in the tent. I am running a airforce inline fan and have half decent airflow within the tent and a passive intake. The tent is a cheap one as my secret jardin n tent had to be binned due to the zippers not working and i had to buy a cheap one which has ripped after only a month or two and as such is not airtight.
I have a window slightly open in the room to allow fresh air in and i am exhausting outside.
Would it be better to close the window and put a heater into the room(not the tent) beside my passive intake holes as if i put it in the tent the temps would be in the 90s. The weather outside is cold and damp and if i dont open the window slightly there is condensation build up on my windows inside. I have a small heater to keep the temps at around 65 with the lights off.
If anyone can suggest how i can get the RH down a bit without raising the temps in the tent i would be very grateful . I dont want to bother with cat litter /salt etc as i have seen suggested in the past as it didnt really work very well.
I have the inline on a fan controller on full and not sure if i am bringing to much air in as the rip in th tent is pretty big but i have a cover over it.
I will be buying a gorilla tent after xmas but am really worried about mold ..I am on day 35 with dinafem critical 2.0.
Cheers

Im not exactly sure but I think your rh is good. From my understanding higher rh levels actually helps the plant by keeping leaves and soil moist. As long as you have air hitting your plants that will keep mold from forming. The low rh levels are better for when you're drying and curing your buds.

What was your previous user name scotsman and I will see if we can get your accounts merged?

As for the RH, it sounds like the problem is with your open window. If the air outside it is condensed and as it comes in there it is going to release the humidity into the room and your dehumidifier, of course, is doing its job. I believe if you were to just close the window you would probably see a drastic reduction in the amount of humidity in the air without even heating the room. The second part of the solution would be to stop the condensation on your window. One possible solution to that would be to insulate your window. In other words, provide a dampener between the window and the inside of your room to allow so transfer area between the two. A double pane window is an example. I have a North facing window in my room that gets all the cold air from my home being exposed on that side. What I do is, during the winter I purchase some very thick clear plastic and tape it to the frame of the window. Not the window itself, because you want a good air gap in between them to allow hot/cold air transfer. This gives you about a 2" buffer in there that allows a luke warm area and stops the condensation.

I hope that answers your question, if I understood it properly. Let us know about that user name and I will see if we can get you fixed up bro.

Cheers for the reply guys...I will set things in motion and let you know how i get on.
I am sure i was registered as hairyscotsman before but had trouble logging in for ages ...It allowed me to use the same username when i re registered so i assume i have vanished for some reason!!lol

In relation to the window i have double glazing but the unit probably needs replaced ....so you get a piece of plastic the same size as the window including frame and then tape up around frame ....am i getting that right??...In effect putting in another pane albeit a plastic one?
Would you be kind enough to provide a link to the sort of plastic you use as i can see that being very useful.

Yeah exactly right scotsman, basically creating a large double pane. Try to get some thick plastic, I think 10 mil is what I have here. It is not the easiest to see through but creates a pane that stops condensation.

I see about your user name, if that was over a year ago there was a melt down here and we lost most user names and such. That could explain the problem you are having.

Hey, glad to have you back with us brother! I look forward to seeing you around a bit more.

Thanks lads...A4 shutting the window deffo helped a bit . I was taking my rh readings from my de humidifier and after i put in my own humidity meter i have it sitting at 40/45rh but my de humid is showing 55/60 so part of the problem was a false reading on my dehumid and now with my humidity meter stuck to the wall i have been playing around with fan controller speeds and increasing/decreasing humidity levels on de humid until i was getting my sweet spot....I will also be able to reduce it down to 25/30 dfor the last couple of weeks of flower so all in all it was a good days experimenting !!....although i should have been working but priorities and all that!!:Cushty:

Good deal man, I am glad to hear that I was able to help a little. That makes my day.
