humidity in garage grow tent

I've bought over a dozen different humidifiers of many different brands.
Ultrasonic top fill is by far the best.
This type can be run at low speed if not much humidity is needed.
I blow fog in thru upper tent portholes, with a fan behind humidifier(s) to blow and disperse fog into a tent.
I use two per tent in 2 x 4 and 3 x 3 tents in winter to keep humidity in the 60s from seed to harvest, while following the VPD chart.

These are my favorites:

very helpful. thx
are you using anything to control the humidity automatically other than a humidifier setting?

I agree with @Simplicio , ultrasonics definitely push more moisture and if you can find a top fill that makes it super easy to use. I have mine hooked to an inkbird controller.

I have a honeywell hcm-710

Its an evaporative unit and the thing i really liked about it is the ability to pour water in from the top to fill it. You don't have to remove a tank and flip it upside down. It's really simple. I'm an old man and I don't want to carry tanks of water up and down stairs. Just a watering can in the top every few days. It does have a "wick" inside that has to be replaced occasionally. The new style replacement filter/wicks have antimicrobial inhibitors. The one it came with gets a little gross but it has lasted a couple months so far without issue.

The entire gray top lifts off so if you need to clean it, very open and easy design.

how is this different than an non evaporative unit? the product description doesnt say evaporative. is it the same meaning because of the invisible mist? grateful for your thoughts please. thx

Evaporative uses a filter that soaks up water and then has a fan blow over it. You can not see any mist/steam. Ultrasonic basically vibrates a metal plate at you guessed it... ultrasonic frequency. It basically boils the water turns it into steam/mist.

There exist some humidity controllers, but my humidity changes slowly enough that I adjust by hand.
I've bought some controllers, but have been too lazy to hook them up.
My experience is that a clip-on or similar fan is needed to disperse the fog.
Use distilled or RO water only, otherwise the water impurities that are blown out as "white dust" will clog plants.
If using a controller, make sure the unit comes on automatically when power is restored by the controller.
Some brands will start fogging immediately, but some require a button push to start re-fogging after power is restored.

@Outdoor_Auto_Canada (OAC) - looks like MIster green beat me to it! But simply it's fan/bucket style (evap) or ultrasonic.

The ultras can definitely move more water into the air. If you need a big boost they are probably the way to go. They can emit a "dust" that is just the minerals in the water.

great thanks. not sure about dust, but at least I'm doing an organic grow,.which should be good flower. assuming its minimal dust. could distilled water help with that?

I'm at 30-50 humidity on average the last couple of day
big changes like 70 high and 10 low in Last 24hrs tho

I think distilled water would help for sure. I only have a small 2x2 tent but it's in a very stable environment hence, I could get away with just a small boost.
