I put my seedling in 5 inch pots in my tent. They've been in the pots for 27 hours,THe humidity is 31 percent. Is that a problem. I don't have any ziploc bags but if it would really help i can pick some up, even though i prefer not to. Will my seeds be effected with this low humidity or will they be good?

yes i would like to see them more at 70% for the first few weeks

the chances are it could not suck up enough water to support growth and shrivel up and die
ive seen young plants suffer leaf damage under 40%
i would surround them by water or put them in a clear box

Or find a very tall glass, water bottle, soda bottle, or clear cup and place it over where the seed was buried to use as a removable terrarium. I germ seeds in party cups and chinese soup containers, then rubber-band an old plastic grocery bag over the top to create a sealed environment. My average is 48 hours before I see their head poke out. Once they break soil, I give them a day "protected" then take the plastic off and let 'em rock out on their own.

ok low and slow, i put plastic bags there a small hole in each bag, i didn't notice you put sealed envoirment. Hopefully this will help the seeds out? thanks for the info

You're really just trying to keep the seed shell moist so it can absorb water and soften, activating the little sprout inside and allowing it to fall away. If it gets too dry or unevenly dry, this process is inhibited or stopped. I keep mine in a "sealed" environment for 24 hours or less, just about as long as people soak their seeds in paper towels. After that first day I let it breath so it doesn't rot or start to drown.

Agree with above statements. Goodluck on your grown.

--> Pro Drowner <-- Don't do it... IT'S A TRAP!

So do i keep the plastic of the pots for 24 hours or longer?

Here's how I plant seeds:

-Fill a pot with my desired soil mix
-Water that pot until I'm getting profuse runoff
-Wait about 30 minutes
-Re-water until I see additional runoff
-place seed on top of the caked soil (that should be flat and firm now that it's completely watered and compressed flat)
-take a 3 finger-full pinch of soil from the edge of the pot and sprinkle it on top of the seed.
-Press down gently into the top of the soil "burying" the seed. All I really do is make sure it's in firm contact with the wet soil around it.
-Place a plastic bag over the container and rubber band it in place
-24 hours later, regardless if I see a seedling or not, I remove the cover and just loosely top the area with the seed with a clear plastic cup (a tall drip catcher cup from the nursery, cost $.50 and is useable as both a drip tray and top coverer thingy)
-Once I see the seedling break ground, I leave it uncovered and allow it to dry out to the point of feeling a little light but not totally dusty-dry
-Water/feed/transplant/harvest/trim/cure/smoke as required :toke:
