I believe so! I'm also in for the wood ash treat. Just measured run-off now from 7.0 drops to 5.8... Whatever it is it's on the roots now.

Her pot is way too small. Decisions decisions :)

I feel with you buddy, this PH stuff is a bitch. The wood ash test starts today, and I hope to report back on results within 48 hours. I would really like to get to the bottom of it for future (and others') reference, before chop down. Let's see if we can't put our brains together for a learning experience here. I know it's a heart breaker to watch an NLH suffer, it's like seeing one of my kids in pain.. :firedevil:

I hate to tell you this, but the ones I refused to transplant up (when I knew I should) never made it and were chopped down in veg for leaves. You may not have much of a choice, if you're sure it's pot bound!

i think getting the ph up will solve most the issues obviously if you switched to chems 5.8 would not be less of an issue

maybes a foilar feed could help

I've flushed her with 7.5, until 7.0 on run off, then I've fed with 6.8 and run off was of 6.1. That's my problem right there. I don't understand why it didn't show last week.

I've also foliar fed with Ca/Mg and fishmix. I'll be back Thursday to see how it worked.

Right now I'm of to the Dam! ;)

I don't have much change to transplant. My wife would freak out... 0_o so we'll see

Enjoy the Dam, my friend. Leave a rice trail so I can follow in your footsteps next week.. :booya:

Hey, Hugo. Trust you had a good visit to AMS and are back safely. How is the NLH doing..?

The wood ash experiment for PH up is under way, with mixed results. On the one hand, mixing the ash with the soil (or media) does raise the PH. In applying one garden scoop to a 10L pot with fresh soil raised the PH by half a point. So, theoretically, wood ash works for upping the PH.

The problem is really with its application in potted plants. All mature plants in pots have a root zone that pretty much extends throughout the pot. In most cases, extensively. Whereas one can apply the ash as top soil and mix in with the top inch or two of soil, that is hardly adequate to have an impact in any reasonable amount of time. By the time you get enough ash to penetrate the root zone, the plant has suffered enough acidic PH damage that it's too late.

Seems to me the wood ash would work mixed in with soil, if only you can get it "mixed-in" in the first place.

Hope you'll have good news on the NLH and some fun things to report about the AMS trip.. ;)

:peace:
