There are defiantly LEDs on the market that will out yield HPS,just look at Seymour's last grow he use 2 year old Lights at 300w and easy got 500gs. If you have 400w LED with a good spectrum there isn't much wasted light where a 400w HPS has plenty wasted.

I was just reading about Lighthouse Hydro's 720 watt Black Star Chrome full spectrum LED with a new lens system, and hybrid compound LEd's. It has a 16-20 sq ft coverage area. Lighthouse Hydro is an American company with a factory in China, and they make the #1 selling LED grow light.

I was shocked to I read that HID lighting is only 30% efficient, and 70% of the light is in wavelengths not usable by cannabis. That's a lot of energy being wasted in unused light and heat. Lighthouse Hydro also uses spectrum & beam angle developed by Cornell university. So, any extra wavelengths is just wasted light, and hype used to sell products to the uneducated buyer. It's not cheap, but it should pay for itself in energy savings and a much higher quality product. The guys I shop with on eBay have some of the best prices, warranty and customer service in the industry.

Afyer 10 years of growing(mainly photo's) I have hung up my HM/HPS and gone and spent some coin on a whole new set up!!! Sold all my HID lighting supplies to a local grow shop who garage sales it to the public to get folks that dont have a lot of money, to start growing. The new setup is as follows---

2-310w California Lightworks LEDs
4x4 grow tent Growlab 120
Phresh filter
3 dwc buckets(first time dwc for me)
General Hydroponic dual diaphram air pump
3- Micro Pore air diffusers
and a sh*t ton of AN nutes with some roots accelerator
Now doing a bit of research, and will start a new grow this weekend droppin some beans.(Kush van stitch, Buddha purple kush or Buddha Magnum, not sure what strain yet. I will have to sleep on that. All got set up today, and will post a journal.:peace:

thanks jm. It hurt in the pocket book, and I got put on spending restriction from the woman, that lets me live with her. I'll be doing dishes and vacuuming for a couple of weeks to make up for this one, but in the end, she knows my growing makes the voices go away!!! :yay:

I hear ya... got a 400 solarstorm myself... cost me an arm and a leg... but it is def worth it when you see the build quality... and a 3 year no questions warrantee basically says ill get my moneys worth at the least

cheers!

I got mine on their grower feedback program for 1/2 off and liked it so much, I bought another one. I ran it in a small tent(2.7ft. x 2.7ft. x 6 ft.) put 3 photo plants in 5 gallon soil pots, and had the side of the tent bulging out like someone had farted in there. I love the way in stacks the nodes!!! I am not too sure about the uv bulbs working, for I have super frosty nugs anyway with the flower additives. The secret......Sugaree and snow storm!!! The plants seem to drink that mixture up!!! I ran 2 plants with it, and 1 plant without it, and the two with had twice the tricome production.

I wonder when the price of LED lighting will come down? It would be sweet if California Light works incorporated the Lens system the Lighthouse hydro uses; its sort of like using a magnifying glass to start a fire. There's no doubt LED's are the future for people growing their own high quality stash. I believe dialing in the correct spectrums have helped these lights bring out the very best traits a strain has to offer. I can't wait to own one myself. I know they'll pay for themselves over and over again in quality and energy savings.
