New Grower How to tell when its time to harvest?

Some silly questions from me, but when do I know when the optimal time for harvest
is? (Sour 60).

Could you guys please teach a novise like me

In general (those who have grown Sour60) how old was the plant before harvest?

You want to get yourself a jewelers loupe, or some thing that will let you get in to look at the trichs. Most autos don't get amber trichs, they get cloudy. But i like to wait for 10-15% amber Trichome heads. More cloudy than clear but some amber is ideal.

These are what my sour60's looked like when i choped them down. Just about everything came down before 70 days, i had 3 that went the full 70 days. I would be checking trichs at 55days up to 60. Let them get as cloudy as you can. I have an eye for it, they almost start to shimmer more in the light, as the trichs get cloudy they stand out allot more against the green plant matter. You'll get an eye for it.

It's tough to wait it out, but it's worth waiting. S60 was some premo auto smoke.

This sour60 had some amber trichs on her. If you look at the leaf tips you can see them there.

This one is still pretty clear. I know it's hard to tell, but you are trying to look at the bigger picture. Also notice how some of the trichs haven't "risen" yet. The stalks seem to get longer and stand taller when it gets close to time.

This was a really good and informative answer that makes even me to understand what to look for.
I have a microscope that I thought and use it magnifies between 60-100 times.
Now I just have to pray for a warm summer for my outdoor grow, at Latitude 65

As Bailer said, most autos usually won't get amber trics. Watch your leaves. As the plants mature they use up the stored energy in the primary fan leaves, then the secondary fan leaves, then the bud leaves. By the time they are ready all the primary and secondary fan leaves will have died off and the bud leaves will be turning. At that point all the trics should be cloudy.

Yes, that is what happened to my first auto's I grew, the big fan leaves let go and went brown. I would hazed a guess, but that may be the way to go, let two sets of fan leaves go brown, then you will know finishing the plant is Nye on ready.

Bailer what happend to the pictures...? I would really like to see them again since my S60 is flowering and starts to "frost" its leafs So it would be nice to see your pictures again so I have an reference on when I should cut them down.
How long do they flower...in general terms?
It really seems that it is possible to grow them at Lat65, even the weather have being mostly cold and rainy.
