Indoor How many plants can i get under a 400w hps

Hey guys as most of you proberly know im currently using CFLs but up to now ive got a 400w hps with cool tube, Fan and fillter to use for free :dance::dance: So my question is how many plants can i safely fit with a 400W and mabe my 300w Cfl as side light or just add to top light?(what works best guys) In my DS90ii its 90x90x170? sI

Si,i have run 3 massivley LST'd photo plants under 400w,in 7.5l pots to good result.
I fully intend to run 6 santa under it
but i am sure that the light would handle up to 4 large or 6 dwarf plants
however with the ds90's space you have more floorspace than i do.
I see they recommend a 250 lamp n there tho,coverage should be perfect and then some,but just watch temps

I grow with a 400 hps and I usually put four plants under it.

do i put it in the middle of the tent? and how far from the plants?

I generally just do the hand test

place your hand under the HPS light & when it becomes too uncomfortable then it will also be for your plants, so raise it until it becomes comfortable.

i will mostly just take that rule of "hand" and add 3 inches for safety,at the end of the day it depends on your ambient temps,light cooling,fan ratings,fresh air intake.....each cab is different

For a Dr90 size tent just stick it in the middle si. You also need to make sure you have plenty of ventilation or its gonna get hot in there.

yeh man its a 400w cooltube also so that will help with temps and the cellar its in in cold. I have my extraction duct facing out the cellar so no heat buil up is gona be brought back in the tent. Ill post some pics as soon as i pick it up my freind is bringing it down weekend just wanted to gather all the info before i change it around. Also i was going to either use my 300w or 125cfl in my other cuboard to start new seedlings. So at how old would i put them into the tent? I want to work it so i have constant supply of meds/ happy times/fun fun fun

I don't kno si maybe switch them when they first show sex or something like that. I grow with hps all the way through so you can put them in there as early or as late as you want.

Hps can be hectic on new plants,i thought my 3 week old baby ak x mk breed would do okay.
Got home yesterday to a sad sad plant,relatively new to hps myself actually,more of a cfl guy.
